    Contact: Bridgette   610-356-1510

Come learn about Vincent Van Gogh’s life—one of art history’s most compelling stories.

He failed at just about everything he attempted during his short life but posthumously became the wonder of the world. He became the prototype for the misunderstood, tormented artist who sold just one painting in his lifetime. His is the story of a mad genius who made us see the world in a new way. Van Gogh was also an eloquent letter writer who chronicled with heartbreaking urgency his mental condition and how he came to understand that his art was the exclusive reason for his existence.

September 29th at 7:00 pm. Please register in advance.

Mr. Fred Dixon will present. He and his wife Martha are long-time art collectors. Their home in Chadds Ford has become a mini-museum with 130 paintings and sculpture pieces.  Fred and Martha were docents at the Barnes Foundation for 10 years.  In 2012, Fred published “700 Years of Art History: Pre-Renaissance to Modernism.”

**The book will be available for purchase at the discounted price of $35 for this lecture.**

Radnor Memorial Library and Radnor Historical Society present Barbara Miller Lane, author of Houses for a New World: Builders and Buyers in American Suburbs, 1945-1965.  In this book, local author Lane investigates lesser-known tract house developers in four diverse regions of the United States. In our area, Lane discusses Lawrence Park (Broomall, PA) and Rose Tree Woods (Broomall, PA). The author treats the period’s typical and often-dismissed little cape cods, ranches, and split-levels with the serious formal analysis once reserved for high-style architecture. Lane is Andrew W. Mellon Professor Emerita in the Humanities and Research Professor in Growth and Structure of Cities at Bryn Mawr College.  Held at Radnor Fire Company, 121 S. Wayne Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087.
