Hey baby ~ Join us for our Winter session of Infants Only class! We'll sing songs, play with scarves, pop bubbles, read books, practice sitting, crawling & (eventually!) walking, and make friends with other local babies.

Join us for a 7-week journey into Newberry Award winning book "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." In this classic book, a brother and sister run away from home and hide out in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Once there, the children embark on journey to solve the mystery behind a new sculpture at the museum, a mystery that art experts from around the world are attempting to solve. Miss Devon will read aloud each week, and we will write, draw, play games and more! We will even send some of our projects to The Met!

This class will run each Wednesday from January 6th - February 17th.

For children in Grades 3 and higher.

Come to HTFL and practice reading to the best listener—A dog! Therapy dogs Rutland and Ziggy come to the Library to meet with young readers and listen to children read a book of their choice.  
 
Within a week from the program date, you will be assigned a 10-minute time slot for your child to read with one of the therapy dogs.  Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your time begins.

A joyful celebration of babies and books together is the best way to describe these sessions.  Lots of bouncing, clapping, and giggling accompany the wiggling.  Mother Goose rhymes and songs enhance language developement and bonding between child and parent or caregiver.  When the program ends moms, dads, grandparents, and nannnies are welcome to chat together.  Located on the lower level, the children's library is easily accessed by elevator.

Thrive Literacy Center is offering a free 5-week Literacy Homework Club at Radnor Library for students in grades 1-5, who will get support with reading and writing homework in a fun hour-long program. Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Join us for a 7-week journey into Newberry Award winning book "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." In this classic book, a brother and sister run away from home and hide out in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Once there, the children embark on journey to solve the mystery behind a new sculpture at the museum, a mystery that art experts from around the world are attempting to solve. Miss Devon will read aloud each week, and we will write, draw, play games and more! We will even send some of our projects to The Met!

This class will run each Wednesday from January 6th - February 17th.

For children in Grades 3 and higher.

Get inspired by working with other tween and teen writers at this informal writing club. Each meeting will begin with a short exercise to get your creative juices flowing, then spend some time writing independently, followed by time to share what you're working on.

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Bring a cardboard box from home or use one from the library & turn it into a car using the library's supplies! Mr. Jason will have snacks & water for all to enjoy, but feel free to bring beverages for yourself or some to share with everyone. We will watch episodes of Looney Tunes on the big screen TV in our cars--it'll feel like a drive-in movie theater!

The structured part of the program is followed by an informal playgroup with age appropriate toys to provide a distraction free environment for parent/child play.  We end our time together with a circle time singing familiar songs and good-byes.

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Registration is NOT required. Tuesdays at 1:30pm

(Children learn best through role modeling. Caregivers are asked to be great role models and be attentive and engaged in the story time. Side conversations can take place during free play. Thanks!)

Block party pic 18   A Block Party is a 45 minute to an hour long free play session with a set of universal blocks, people, vehicles, animals, scarves and other materials where families with young children have the freedom to build and play as they wish.

With the materials provided to Aston Library by a grant through the Pennsylvania State Library, families with young children will build and experiment, manipulate objects, work with others, count and measure, and build vocabulary. 

This program is open to anyone who wishes to attend. There are 2 rules---no throwing blocks and no knocking down anyone else's structure.

No registration is required.

AlligatorZone is a free public program that gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch startup businesses to youths and families, answer questions, and receive valuable feedback on their ideas.  This program is open to kids and teens ages 8 and up.    This session features Rick Nucci, Co-founder & CEO, Guru which allows a business to gather knowledge from its various team members, all the while making sure that it is correct and kept it up-to-date, for the use of the entire company.  Registration is required starting February 16.

Your child can expand his or her confidence with reading by practicing with a trained therapy dog! PALS for Life will be visiting the Aston Library March 2, 7, 9 and 23. Reading to animals helps children feel more confident in their reading ability.
