Newlin Grist Mill Volunteer Earth Day

Join us for a morning of Earth Day activities at Newlin Grist Mill! 219 S. Cheyney Rd. Glen Mills PA 19342

In 2014, Middletown Free Library volunteers celebrated Earth Day by installing bird boxes for wood ducks, screech owls, and songbirds!  This year, you can help us help the planet through a variety of Earth-friendly projects to protect our streams, rebuild our forests, and support wildlife. Those who attend & help will have their late fees* forgiven on their library accounts!

Registration is required. (*only late fees will be removed, not fees for damaged/lost items)

The Radnor Library will host a special storytime about Sam, the car-racing dog from the picture book Number One Sam by Greg Pizzoli.  Children age 2-5 and their families are invited to the Winsor Room for stories, songs, activities, and a craft. We've made solar-powered roller coasters, now let's see if we can build solar-powered catapults! Instructables selected the library for its Build Night, and we will be using Brown Dog Gadget's portable usb solar panels.

Movers and Shakers is a 20-30 minute program for 2 and 3 year olds and a caregiver with Ms. Shannon. The program provides wiggles and giggles for all! We'll share age-appropriate books and enjoy rhymes and songs.

Purpose of the Program: To stimulate the brain, increase phonological awareness, provide language and vocabulary development, and provide an alternative to the traditional storytime.
 
Mover and Shakers includes: Nursery rhymes, songs, and fingerplays; Age appropriate books; Literacy Modeling; Free play with educational toys

It's Baby Story Time with a lot of movement!  Infants and their caregivers are encouraged to act out the stories as they are being read.  Stories, fingerplays, songs, dancing, and toys are used to get babies to learn and love reading! 
Registration is NOT required, but participation IS!

There is always a new book and a few changing rhymes.  This is followed by a playtime with age appropriate toys to encourage special distraction-free between adult and child and beginning socialization. We end with a circle time of songs.

Get your child off to a great start and meet other parents and children in our community.

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Registration is NOT required. Tuesdays at 1:30pm

Radnor Library’s Preschool Storytime will partner with Audubon Society and Radnor Bird Town this spring to focus on endangered species, The Five Bs: Birds, Bats, Butterflies, Bees, and Bugs. Kids age 3 and up are invited to join us in the Winsor Room for a storytime Tuesdays at 4:00, April 7 through May 5, followed by special presentations featuring live animals and insects, props, and artifacts. Parent-Child Workshop Series

Middletown Free Library is a Family Place Library, which means our library is meant for families! In this 5-week long workshop series, families with kids ages 0-3 will have access to the library's special toy collection that is developmentally appropriate for their age range. It's a free-play geared for adults to spend quality time playing with their kids, the opportunity for their kids to play with other kids, and for parents to meet other parents! Also, each week the library will have an expert in a different field of child development available for parents to ask them questions pertaining to their kids' development. Mr. Jason & Ms Lisa will have different resources from our parenting section available to check out as well to keep you an informed parent!

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! We do asked that you committ to attend all 5 sessions. Fill out a form in the library TODAY!

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Radnor Library’s Preschool Storytime will partner with Audubon Society and Radnor Bird Town this spring to focus on endangered species, The Five Bs: Birds, Bats, Butterflies, Bees, and Bugs. Kids age 3 and up are invited to join us in the Winsor Room for a storytime Tuesdays at 4:00, April 7 through May 5, followed by special presentations featuring live animals and insects, props, and artifacts. Speakers are coming from the Audubon Society, Briar Bush Nature Center, Bryn Mawr Bees, and Tyler Arboretum. On April 21, the Butterfly Guy will share his amazing butterfly collection! Middletown Free Library is a Family Place Library, which means our library is meant for families! In this 5-week long workshop series, families with kids ages 0-3 will have access to the library's special toy collection that is developmentally appropriate for their age range. It's a free-play geared for adults to spend quality time playing with their kids, the opportunity for their kids to play with other kids, and for parents to meet other parents! Also, each week the library will have an expert in a different field of child development available for parents to ask them questions pertaining to their kids' development. Mr. Jason & Ms Lisa will have different resources from our parenting section available to check out as well to keep you an informed parent!

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

PAWS for Reading is a program that allows children to read aloud to a therapy dog in order to improve reading and communication skills. Here are some things your child should be able to do to participate:
-- Children must be able to sit calmly with a dog for about 10 minutes.
-- Reading is not required! If your child is not yet reading, he or she may look at any book with the dog and talk about the pictures. They are working on their pre-reading skills!

Cardboard Bike Challenge

May is National Bike Month, and for this month's challenge Mr. Jason wants to see if kids can make a bicycle out of recycled materials. It does not have to be a working bicycle, just one for decoration. Work in a team or solo, and our creations will be on display in the library for people to vote for their favorite one. The one with the most votes at the end of the month will win a prize!

Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!
