This summer, we're putting a new spin on our popular Teddy Bear Trip program...
instead of Miss Lauren going out on an adventure with your stuffed animal, kids can 'adopt a monster' from the Ridley Library and have some fun!
Adoptions are free, and will last for ONE WEEK (children will pick-up their monster on a Monday, and drop it off the following Monday).
To adopt a monster, you must visit Ridley Library, fill out an 'adoption' form, and sign-up for the week to take your monster home.
Registration will begin May 20. Adoptions will start June 17, and run until August 9.
BE CREATIVE...take your monster home, give him or her a name, bring it on vacation, take it to karate, go get ice cream, read it bedtime stories!
And whatever it is you and your monster do, take lots of pictures, and have fun!!!
Photos will be shared on the Ridley Township Public Library website and Facebook page.
For all ages.
This program is free.
Must register.

It's a summer reading program just for our youngest library friends!
Each week we will focus on one of the pre-reading skills and explore them through fun activities.
At the completion of the program children will earn a prize.
The six skills are:
-
Print motivation - or liking books - means children will want to learn to read.
-
Phonological awareness - hearing words and the smaller sounds in words - helps children sound out written words.
-
Vocabulary - knowing many words - helps children recognize written words and understand what they read.
-
Narrative skills - being able to tell and understand the structure of a story - help children develop thinking and comprehension skills.
-
Print awareness - seeing words - means being familiar with printed language. It helps children feel comfortable with books and understand that print is useful.
-
Letter knowledge - knowing the names and sounds of letters - helps children figure out how to sound out words.
This program is for children ages 5 and under.

It's Baby Story Time with some movement! Infants and their caregivers are encouraged to act out the books as they are being read. Stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, dancing, and toys are used to help babies learn and love to read!
Registration is NOT required, but participation IS!
(Children learn best through role modeling. Caregivers are asked to be great role models and be attentive and engaged in the story time. Side conversations can take place during free play. Thanks!)
