Tentative: 

Rebecca Rule, noted New England Humorist and storyteller, is back with her program, "Moved and Seconded: Town Meeting in New Hampshire".

 

Drawing on research from her book, Moved and Seconded: Town Meeting in New Hampshire, the Present, the Past, and the Future, Rebecca Rule regales audiences with stories of the rituals, traditions and history of town meeting, including the perennial characters , the literature, the humor, and the wisdom of this uniquely New England institution.

Rick Holmes, Town Historian, fresh from his extremely well-received presentation in Norhtern Ireland, will tell us of Rev. James MacGregor, Derry's "founding father".

Local History Series

Stephen Collins will present an original play, An Evening of Frost. This is a unique, interactive performance that begins with a short biographical introduction to the poet's life. As part of the performance, an open discussion of the following poems will be included -- guests may like to read these before attending, and be ready to participate in the discussion.

  • A Tuft of Flowers
  • Mending Wall
  • Birches
  • After Apple Picking
  • Acquainted with the Night
  • Desert Places

The performance closes with a dramatic reading of the hauntingly memorable "Death of the hired Man"

Registration is not required, but the room will close if capacity (80 people) is reached.
