Join us in 2017 for our 17 in 17 Book Challenge!

  • Commit to reading any 17 books during 2017.
  • Record the books that you read at our 2017 Reading Challenge Page
  • For each book that you read, enter the title and author (and add a little something about the book if you want - no spoilers though! (for example, Book #1, Title, Author).

At the end of 2017, everyone that has completed the challenge will be entered into a drawing to win a $50.00 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, courtesy of the Friends of Dracut Library.

Spread the word! Invite your friends to join.  No registration required. Please note that this is an ADULT only program.

Celebrate 20 Years of Harry Potter


You are cordially invited to a week of festivities celebrating the world of Harry Potter.  Please note that registration is required for all events. Space is limited for some events, so register early.

Students entering grades 1-5!  Come to Diagon Alley to get your wizarding suppleies.  Withdraw some galleons, sickles, and knutes from Gringott's Bank.  Then visit the various shops where you can purchase (with your Wizard money) and/or make things like a Golden Snitch, a Lightning Bolt Cookie, a Mini wand, and lots more.

Bring a pair of (new) socks to any event during Harry Potter Week, for an entry into a raffle to win one of two Grand Prizes! 
(At the end of our week-long celebration, all socks will be donated to area shelters and help organizations.)

Sam Dawson has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old. He has a daughter with a homeless woman; she abandons them as soon as they leave the hospital.  Sam raisers her, but as she reaches age 7 herself, Sam's limitations start to become a problem at school. The authorities take her away, and Sam shames high-priced lawyer Rita Harrison into taking his case pro bono.

Weather permitting, we'll have an outdoor Bubble Day.  We'll have lots of different bubble wands in different shapes.  See what happens with an oval or triangular shape.  You'll also get to make your own wand to take home.  Can you make a giant bubble?  All ages up to entering 5th grade are welcome.  No registration is needed.

Come see Mike Bent perform his astounding magic tricks.  You'll be amazed for sure!  This program is best for children who are at least age 3 - entering grade 5.  Free tickets may be reserved online starting one week before the program.  All children and adults will need a ticket as our room capacity is 100.

Tickets must be claimed the morning of the show, between 10 AM and 10:20, or they may be given to drop-ins.  Plan to leave home early to find a parking space, claim your tickets and take your children to the restroom.

Registration begins one week before the show.

BIG JOE returns to Dracut bringing with him some very funny stories, puppets and props.  He is just the best storyteller for kids.  This show is for chilren ages 2 - entering grade 5.  Free tickets may be reserved online starting one week before the program.  All children and adults will need a ticket as our room capacity is 100.
