Parenting Book Group: Why Fathers Count
|

"Why Fathers Count: The Importance of Fathers and Their Involvement with Children"
This is not by any means for Fathers only, but Fathers are strongly encouraged to join. Participation each month is not necessary. Please come when you can, as many times as you can. The group will meet the 2nd Tuesday each month through June. Copies of the book are available at the library.
This program runs alongside story time at the library so please consider bringing your younger children.
Ellen Rondina, Extension Educator with UNH Cooperative Extension Strafford County, will be facilitating the group.

Reading Patch Club Registration
|

Reading Patch Club registration begins! Earn patches and a library tote bag for hours that you read! Progam will run from March to May and is open to children ages 2 to 8th grade and is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Durham Public Library. The club will start again in September and will run throughout the school year. Register at the circulation desk.

Join ORPP - the Oyster River Parents and Preschoolers group – for the library's monthly night-time storytime. Come wearing your pajamas!
This month we invite you to come and do some magic! We will read stories about magic, do some magic tricks and make a craft.
This is a fun time for kids and for networking parents and all are welcome.

A Visit with Abraham Lincoln
|

|
Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by Steve Wood, begins this program with a recounting of his early life and ends with a reading of the Gettysburg Address. Along the way he comments on the debates with Stephen Douglas, his run for the presidency, and the Civil War. In doing so, he challenges the audience to reexamine their knowledge of Lincoln's views on slavery and abolition.
This program is made possible by a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council

Join the Bookeaters - a middle-school book discussion group facilitated by Ruth Wharton McDonald, UNH Professor of Education. This month's book is "Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys" by Kate Brian. Walk to the library after school for a great book discussion and refreshments.
