Please join us for an interactive program and informative lecture by Richard Knox on the Great American Songbook.

The Great American Songbook, also known as "American Standards", is the canon of the most important and influential American songs from the early and mid-20th century.  They include the most popular and enduring melodies from the 1910's to the 1950's that were created primarily for Broadway musical productions and Hollywood musical films.

In Part II of this five-part series, Rich will focus on songs composed and recorded during the 1930's, including such great numbers as Jerome Kern's "The Way Your Look Tonight", Cole Porter's "Anything Goes", and Irving Berlin's "Cheek to Cheek".

misc_none 6:30 PM  -  7:30 PM Knitting for a Cause Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Amelia     abuccarelli@wlsmail.org

Last holiday season the Eastchester Public Library donated multiple blankets to Project Linus, which distributes handmade blankets to critically ill children that were made from squares created by our patrons. Teens and adult alike came together to learn basic knitting, new techniques and to put the blankets together. Don’t know how to knit? No problem! Beginners through advanced knitters are welcome.

Each session will be an opportunity to work on your square, learn to knit, share techniques, ask questions and begin to put together our blankets. Yarn will be provided at each session, but feel free to bring/use your own as well. We have a few sets of #5 Knitting Needles, but if you have your own, please bring those along. If you start a square, but don’t have time to finish it, that is still a huge help, as long as you drop it off before a session, so we can finish it. You do not need to attend all 3 sessions to participate.

Want to help make our blankets but can’t attend? We welcome donations of knitted squares (7 in by 7in) ideally knitted with a #5 needle, by Friday, December 15th. Just drop it off at the Circulation Desk!

        There are 25 spaces available.
