misc_none 7:00 PM  -  9:00 PM RENOIR: impressionist & 20th Century Master Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Lecturer: Irene Wisoff

Although RENOIR'S accomplishments include landscapes, portraits, and still life, his foremost subject from his early career to later years was the female figure. During the impressionist era (the 1870's) the images were of the gaiety of modern life _ young girls flirting, playing piano, dancing.

A slide-lecture reviews RENOIR'S entire career from his youthful years as a delicate decorator on porcelain to a 20th century master representing monumental women.

Irene Wisoff is an art educator and lecturer with graduate degrees from Columbia University in Fine Arts Education and Art History. Formerly a galler lecturer at the CLoisters (the Medieval branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art), she has been lecturing since 1991 for the Metropolitan Museum's Education Department, presenting slide-lectures at libraries, adult education schools, community centers and art organizations in the greater metropolitan area.
