ent_microphone2 3:00 PM Mostly Carmen!: Arias and Duets from the Famous Opera Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

On Sunday, May 1st at 3 p.m., we will offer "Mostly Carmen," a selection of arias and duets from the famous opera by Bizet. The program will feature mezzo-soprano Inbar Goldmann (pictured), tenor Hamid Rodriguez, baritone Ricardo Rosa, and pianist Inna Leytush.

Carmen was first performed in Paris in 1875 and was not well-received, due to its breaking of conventions and controversial main characters, which shocked and scandalized its audiences! Bizet died suddenly, and did not live to see the opera's success in Vienna later that year, or enduring international acclaim during the following ten years!

Carmen is now one of the world's most popular and frequently performed operas, and the "Habanera" and the "Toreador Song" are among the best-known of all operatic arias.

Open to all, no registration required. Please note, there has been a change in the program from what we originally publicized.
