Kindergarten Connections @ the East Longmeadow Public Library!

You and your new kindergartener or older preschool student are invited to a two-session activity workshop. Participate with your child and learn school transition techniques along with fun yet educational activities. This workshop is designed to help caregivers assess a child's learning style and abilities. For 4 to 5 year old children and caregiver; please plan to attend both sessions. Facilitated and sponsored by Pathways for Parents.

    Are you a Chess enthusiast? If so you will want to join the Chess Club! This club is held every Wednesday afternoon from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and is open to all children ages 6-14 with some chess experience and a desire to improve their skills.

 Come join us at the East Longmeadow Public Library for interactive English classes. Learn to listen, speak, read and write in conversational English.

Amadou Talla, our instructor, has been a Massachusetts certified teacher to speakers of other languages for almost 20 years and is very enthusiastic about helping students meet their goals.

Today marks the beginning of the Children's Room Book Sale with a special invitation to the Mom's Club of East Longmeadow to preview the sale from 10am - 5:30pm! 

The Book Sale runs from Monday evening September 15th through Friday September 26th.

All proceeds from the book sale go to the Children's Room Program Fund.

 It is time for READ-A-POLOOZA!                                                                                                                        (A celebration of reading and the Grand Opening of our Book Sale!)                                                                                                                       Come to the Children's Department Monday September 15th from 5:30-7:30pm for a doggone good time! 

READ-A-POLOOZA is sure to have you and your family barking with delight with fun activities for all including, game stations, craft center, reading to our special guest Reading Therapy Dogs, Cassie and Eliza Doodle, AND a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog! This hot-diggety-dog celebration of reading is the Grand Opening of our Children's Room Book Sale so be among the first Book Sale buyers because -early dogs get the best books! 

Please note, the book sale will run from Monday, September 15th to Friday, September 26th. All book sale proceeds go to the Children's Room Program Fund.

Spanish for Preschoolers @ the East Longmeadow Library!

Take advantage of this special opportunity to have your preschooler learn Spanish in a fun and playful way with instructor Kate Chung.

Children will learn basic Spanish vocabulary following an adaptation of the beloved preschool book Go Dog Go. Kids will have fun with activities and crafts while they are immersed in the Spanish language. This 7 week program is for ages 3 1/2 - 6, and begins Tuesday September 16th from 9:30-10:45am.

Registration is required as space is limited.

Spanish for Homeschoolers @ the East Longmeadow Library!

Attention homeschooled students! Join instructor Kate Chung for a fun 7 week program held Thursday mornings from 9:30-10:30am.

To commemorate the 2014 World Cup, students will be learning Spanish in the context of a trip to the World Cup host nation where they will learn conversational skills related to finding a hotel room, sightseeing at the beach, finding their seat in a stadium as well as terms of good sportsmanship.  

 Ages 8-14 (7 year old with good reading skills and maturity welcome). Registration is required as space is limited.

Pastel Paint like the Masters with Greg Maichack

Library Community Room

Extensively researched, Maichack teaches participants by lecture, revealing anecdotes, historical context and demo of techniques applicable to many styles of pastel painting, covering all essential pastel techniques. Participants using van Gogh’s, Georgia O’Keeffe’s and Monet’s famous “Sunflowers” artwork, and also Maichack’s reference photos, create their unique sunflower pastel painting.

All materials: pastels, pastel paper, pastel pencils, included.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. This project is supported in part from a grant from the East Longmeadow Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Spanish for Preschoolers @ the East Longmeadow Library!

Take advantage of this special opportunity to have your preschooler learn Spanish in a fun and playful way with instructor Kate Chung.

Children will learn basic Spanish vocabulary following an adaptation of the beloved preschool book Go Dog Go. The Board of Selectmen announces that it has set a date for a Special Town Meeting.  The Special Town Meeting will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Longmeadow High School Auditorium. 

The final deadline to submit warrant articles for this Special Town Meeting has not been set, but it is anticipated that the Board of Selectmen will confirm the deadline at its next regular meeting on August 19, 2014.  

Petitioned warrant articles must include the signatures of at least 100 registered voters.  Petition forms are available in the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028.  All warrant articles must be submitted to the Board of Selectmen’s Office.
