 THIS MONTH'S TITLE IS CHANGED!

This month's selection is The Shape of Mercy by Susan Meissner.

The Shape of Mercy is vintage Susan Meissner: tender storytelling that keeps you hooked; living, breathing characters that capture your heart and madden you, too; and  a message of redemption that sticks with you. Meissner deftly weaves the stories of three women of vastly different generations, connecting them perfectly and crafting a  winsome, interesting, powerful read.”—Mary E. Demuth, author of Watching the Tree Limb and Daisy Chain

Come share a lively discussion with us. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the front desk one month prior to the discussion date. No registration necessary.

Children ages 5-10 may register to read to Gracie, a certified therapy dog, between 5 and 6:30 p.m.in the children's story room.

Gracie and her handler have been trained in the R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dog) program, which improves children's reading and communication skills.

Each child will spend 15 minutes reading to Gracie. They may bring their own book or choose one at the library before their session.

Animals are ideal reading companions because they listen attentively; do not judge, laugh or criticize; allow children to proceed at their own pace; are less intimidating than peers; and they help increase relaxation and lower blood pressure, according to the program.

Registration is required. Register in person or by phone at 203-452-2850 x 4.
