You have created, developed and discovered this fabulous product/service that will both truly benefit the consumer and generate significant revenue for you and your family.  But, if you are unable to connect with and communicate to the marketplace, as brilliant as your product/service is, you have virtually no shot at any type of success.

The agenda topics for this workshop will be:
Your Product / Services Description
Your Pricing Strategy
Your Target Markets
Your Marketing Strategies to reach customers
Your Marketing Message (including the critical "Elevator Speech" component)

Your Presenter:
Daniel de Percin enjoyed a successful 4 decade long marketing, sales and sales management career in the Broadcasting Industry in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles.  From the elevator pitch used to help close his very first sale to those he currently uses as head of RebuildYourNetWorth.com, he has first-hand experience of not only what works but why it works. Danny also volunteers for the Bridgeport, CT chapter of SCORE as certified mentor and its Director of Marketing and Public Information.

misc_none 6:45 PM  -  7:45 PM Book Discussion- The Lowland Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

This month's selection is The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Two brothers bound by tragedy; a fiercely brilliant woman haunted by her past; a country torn by revolution. A powerful new novel--set in both India and America--that explores the price of idealism and a love that can last long past death. Suspenseful, sweeping, piercingly intimate, The Lowland expands the range of one of our most dazzling storytellers, seamlessly interweaving the historical and the personal across generations and geographies. This masterly novel of fate and will, exile and return, is a tour de force and an instant classic. (Goodreads.com)

Come share a lively discussion with us. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the front desk one month prior to the discussion date. No registration necessary.

Children ages 5-10 may register to read to Dani, a certified therapy dog, between 5 and 6:30 p.m.in the children's story room.

Dani and her handler have been trained in the R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dog) program, which improves children's reading and communication skills.

Each child will spend 15 minutes reading to Dani. They may bring their own book or choose one at the library before their session.

Animals are ideal reading companions because they listen attentively; do not judge, laugh or criticize; allow children to proceed at their own pace; are less intimidating than peers; and they help increase relaxation and lower blood pressure, according to the program.

misc_none 6:45 PM  -  7:45 PM Book Discussion- The Invention of Wings Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

This month's selection is The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.

Hetty "Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women. This exquisitely written novel is a triumph of storytelling that looks with unswerving eyes at a devastating wound in American history, through women whose struggles for liberation, empowerment, and expression will leave no reader unmoved. (Goodreads.com)

Come share a lively discussion with us. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the front desk one month prior to the discussion date. No registration necessary.

office_dollarsign 2:00 PM  -  3:30 PM Planning to Avoid a Long Term Care Crisis Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

This is a MoneySmart Week Event

What is Long Term Care? Where is it provided? Who needs care? Who pays for care?  How does a need for care impact the family? Marcia L. Bernstein, LCSW, CLTC from
The Connecticut Partnership for Long Term Care will answer these questions and take questions from the audience.  The Connecticut Partnership for Long Term Care is a program of the State of Connecticut that works in alliance with the private insurance industry. This program is a joint effort by State government and private industry to create an option to help residents plan to meet their future long-term care needs (care at home, in an assisted living facility, or in a nursing home) without depleting their assets to pay for care.
With the average cost for nursing home care in Connecticut at more than $124,000 per year, can you afford to pay for it?  This information is intended for adults of all ages.

Registration is required and begins on March 21st.

*Registration is required. Register in person or by phone at 203-452-2850 x 4.*

misc_none 6:45 PM  -  7:45 PM Book Discussion- Five Days at Memorial Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

This month's selection is Five Days at Memorial: Five Days in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital by Sheri Fink.

In the tradition of the best investigative journalism, physician and reporter Sheri Fink reconstructs 5 days at Memorial Medical Center and draws the reader into the lives of those who struggled mightily to survive and to maintain life amid chaos.

After Katrina struck and the floodwaters rose, the power failed, and the heat climbed, exhausted caregivers chose to designate certain patients last for rescue. Months later, several health professionals faced criminal allegations that they deliberately injected numerous patients with drugs to hasten their deaths.

Five Days at Memorial, the culmination of six years of reporting, unspools the mystery of what happened in those days, bringing the reader into a hospital fighting for its life and into a conversation about the most terrifying form of health care rationing. (Goodreads.com)

Come share a lively discussion with us. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the front desk one month prior to the discussion date. No registration necessary.

misc_none 6:45 PM  -  7:45 PM Book Discussion- Me Before You Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

This month's selection is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.

Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time. (Goodreads.com)
