Confused about the new Health Insurance Exchanges that are starting in October under the Affordable Care Act? You are not alone!

In this seminar, Christina Crain, MSW, Director of Programs at the Southwestern CT Area Agency on Aging, will explain what the Health Insurance Exchange or Marketplace is all about. Connecticut is one of just 14 states who have developed their own marketplace where individuals and small businesses can compare and shop for qualified health plans and, if eligible, apply for subsidies to help pay for the monthly premium and lower out of pocket costs. The health insurance marketplace in CT is called Access Health CT. Starting October 1, 2013, individuals can compare plans and enroll in a plan of their choice. Coverage begins January 1, 2014.

Come learn what the market place is all about, who can buy insurance through the marketplace, how the subsidies work and what plans are available. Registration required and begins October 1st. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.
