    Contact: Adult Services   203-452-2850 X6   reference@ewml.org
This is the re-scheduled session from Tuesday, March 19th.

This workshop is designed to give you the skills you need to overcome myths and potential barriers about “older” workers, so you can conduct a successful job search, using standard techniques and current technology. In order to conduct an effective job search as an “older worker,” you need to understand role of “older workers” in both today’s job market, and the job market of the future, which involves the following ideas and concepts:
  • Understanding the demographics, myths and realities of older workers.
  • Gain a better understanding of the four Generations of workers, in order to best approach potential employers, and to be able to work for that younger boss.
  • Realizing the challenges, attitude, and motivation involved with a job search as an older worker.
  • •Understanding employer’s expectations in this changing world of work.
    • How you can use email and the Internet in your job search.
    • How to provide a positive presentation, so you can focus on the skills abilities and experience you bring to the position, which makes you more valuable to the potential employer.
    • How to phrase answers to interview questions to use current language and a focus on experience, not age.
    • Know your legal rights in the event you encounter age discrimination.
