ent_sock_puppet.GIF 10:30 AM  -  11:30 AM Lionheart Puppets - The Brave Little Tailor Puppet Show Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Children's Services   203-452-2850 x 4   referenceservices@ewml.org

All Ages.  A loyal bird, a two-headed ogre, a wicked giant, seven flies and a jar of jam!  It all adds up to a fantastic journey that one young tailor must make to become a royal knight.  Based on the story by the Brothers Grimm, and full of adventure and fun, this story teaches children that nothing is impossible if they put their minds to it.

Drawing from a rich history of classic stories and fairy tales, the Lionheart Puppet Company is dedicated to the production of quality puppet shows for audiences of all ages.  The Lionheart Puppet Company is owned and operated primarily by Matthew K. Leonard, who holds a BFA in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut.

Ages 6 - 10.  Shadow puppetry is believed to be the earliest form of puppetry and allows children the opportunity to explore the uses of light and shadow.

Utilizing a series of pre-designed puppet patterns, you will learn the basics of puppet jointing and construction to create your own animal shadow puppet.  You will then learn the elements of puppet performance as you are lead through a series of exercises moving the puppets across a shadow screen.  You will even learn how to build a simple shadow screen of your own using common items found around the home.

This workshop will be led by Matthew Leonard of The Lionheart Puppet Company.    Matthew Leonard holds a BFA in Puppet Arts from the University of Connecticut and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the CT Guild of Puppetry.
