Come to the Minecraft Meet-Up at EWML to become a part of the Fairfield County Minecraft Server and help us to build our EWML world.  If you have your own Minecraft account, please be sure to enter the information on the registration form so we can add you to the library list ahead of time.  Those with laptops are encouraged to bring them.

For kids in grades 6-8 ONLY.

Ages 4 - 7.  Join Jean Mai of Science Snoopers as she leads science programs designed to introduce children to the natural world around them.  All Science Snoopers programs include a short presentation enhanced with hands-on material, props, or experiments; a short story related to the theme; and an art project.  This week's topic - "Feathered Friends".  Flight, food, and feathers: explore the world of birds.

Using solar power and light sensitive paper, we will create beautiful shadow prints. We will provide an assortment of items to create shadows, but if you have something with an interesting shape that you would like to bring from home, feel free to bring it along!  For kids entering grades 6-8.

Ages 4 - 8.  What do superheroes do to stay so strong and fit? Come learn how to battle villains with a superhero inspired fitness class designed just for kids.  We’ll lunge like Spiderman, soar like Superman, and lasso like Wonder Woman while using our energy to zap the bad guys!  Wear your favorite superhero clothes for some extra fun!

This fitness class will cover the importance of warming up, cooling down, and stretching.  Kids will learn the importance of fitness and see just how much fun moving their bodies can be!  Please dress in comfortable play clothes and sneakers.

Ages 8 - 12.  Turbo Kick Live! is the ultimate cardio-kickboxing party! Kids will have a blast combining kickboxing and dance moves with fun music for a heart-pumping, energizing class!  No equipment is required for this class and no actual combat takes place.

All Ages.  Jackson Gillman is The Stand-Up Chameleon.  Call it what you like -- cabaret, vaudeville, or story/song-filled fun.  Any way you slice it, Jackson Gillman's performances reach out and touch the audience.  Levity in Motion includes mime and stories for the family, airborne exploits, and other childhood flights of fancy.

Ages 5 & up.  This inspiring, high energy program features demonstrations of basic tricks, catches, and combinations.  You'll also get to see a number of rare and unique Frisbees, a brief science lesson on the aerodynamics of Frisbees, a bit of history about tossing circular objects.  The show will be followed by a playshop, a fun hands-on activity that gives participants a unique learning experience. It starts with balancing and stretching and leads to many tricks and catches that can be done with a Frisbee.

Rising 2nd - 5th Graders.  Listen to the story Nova's Ark, about a robot boy who gets lost on a field trip.  Then work together in groups using Lego® WeDo Construction sets and other building materials to create a robotics solution to help Nova find his way home.  This program will be led by Debra Shea, a teacher at St. Jude School.

All Ages.  You bring a picnic dinner and the library will provide dessert!  Join us on the back lawn of the library for some fabulous End of Summer Reading entertainment!  The picnic begins at 6:00 pm and Magic by Scott Jameson will commence at 6:30 pm.   Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson for an extraordinary performance that will have you laughing out loud and perched on the very edge of your seat.

In case of inclement weather, the picnic will be cancelled and the performance will be moved indoors to the Ehlers Room.  If this occurs, free tickets will be available 15 minutes before the program and attendance will be limited to 150 people.

Kids in grades 6-12, come learn how to play the hottest party game for teens - One Night Ultimate Werewolf!

  • Each player gets a unique role: A Werewolf, Seer, Troublemaker, or another, all with special abilities.
  • After a secret night phase that includes changing roles, players have just 5 minutes to find a Werewolf!

We'll show you how to play the game and provide refreshments to keep you going.  Registration is required and begins on July 5th.  Limited to 12 people.  Link here to sign up on July 5th or later.
