This is an 8 hour class and registration is required. Registration will begin on January 13 for Floral Park residents. The class will be limited to 32 attendees. Please bring a check in the amount of $12 payable to AARP if you are an AARP member. None-members must pay $14.Please show your AARP card when registering. Checks are nonrefundable. This year's book choice is The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey, by Candice Millard.   2:30 PM  -  3:30 PM The Friends Celebrate National Library Week with The Amazon, River of Life       Before Huntington photographer Michael Fairchild led a 10-day Amazon River photographic workshop in Peru, he carefully read Candice Millard’s book "River of Doubt." which chronicles Teddy Roosevelt's 1912 fateful expedition on "a black, uncharted river that snakes through one of the most treacherous jungles in the world." Millard's well researched, readable description of the Amazon ecosystem itself proved invaluable to Fairchild when he tackled writing the script for his narrated photographic documentary, "Amazon, River of Life". For Michael Fairchild, sharing the beauty of the Amazon is the first step towards preserving the natural resources and biodiversity vital to sustaining our living planet.
