Jim Lucas, a student at Millsaps College, and a photojournalist, captured images of the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi from 1964 to 1968.

Through the generosity of the Lucas Estate, the Mississippi Humanities Council and the Friends of the M. R. Davis Public Library, we are proud to display 48 of his images at the library.  Photographs include the Meredith March against Fear, the U.S. Senate Poverty Hearings, Robert Kennedy's visit to Mississippi, the Wharlest Jackson funeral in Natchez, and the search for civil rights workers in Neshoba County.

The photographs will be on display February 8th until March 15th, 2016. Special thanks to members of the Desoto Camera Club for setting up the exhibit.
