    Contact: Leah Farrell   860-673-6791   lfarrell@farmingtonlibraries.org

Muriel Anderson’s renowned guitar and harp guitar playing is highlighted by a backdrop of stunning visuals by celebrated photo-artist and cinematographer Bryan Allen. Together they bring you on a musical and visual journey around the world, full of joy and humanity, with new tunes, old favorites, stories, and images.

One of the world’s foremost fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarists, Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her recent CD “Nightlight Daylight” has won top honors in 11 national awards. She has performed/recorded with Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Victor Wooten and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her obvious joy of music, humor and her facility across the genres of folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass and international music is revered by guitarists worldwide. An engaging performer, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a lyrical choir, then a marching band, then a Japanese koto, then a Bluegrass band, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next, a Spanish classic. Her video “Why Worry” currently has over 6.5 million views on Dire Straits’ FB page.

Please register.

    Contact: Anna Eisen   860-673-6791   aeisen@farmingtonlibraries.org

Enter the construction zone!  Sparky’s Puppets will perform “Build a Better World” at the Barney Branch Library in Farmington on Monday, July 17 at 10:00 A.M.  In this show, the “Three Little Pigs” are hard at work on their houses, trying to protect themselves from the Big Bad Wolf.  And, in another story, a fisherman meets a talking fish that can make wishes come true.  The magic wishes make a cottage, a mansion, and a castle suddenly spring up on the beach!  Other tales will complete the program.

Sparky’s Puppets dramatize favorite children’s stories with colorful hand puppets, lively humor and plenty of audience participation.  For over 37 years, they have delighted children and family audiences throughout New England.  This show was especially created for the library’s summer reading program theme.
