misc_none 10:00 AM  -  11:00 AM Living with an Irregular Heartbeat     Tell a Friend
Over 2 million Americans live with an irregular heart rate called Atrial Fibrillation.  Although this abnormal rhythm is not usually life-threatening it places the person at a greater risk of developing serious, life-threatening conditions such as stroke, heart failure, fatigue and additional heart rhythm problems.  The incidence of developing Atrial Fibrillation increases with age and with chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease and diabetes.

Come hear our education presentation called “Living with an Irregular Heart Rate” to learn more about Atrial Fibrillation and how it affects your daily life.  Learn about the potential health risks caused by Atrial Fibrillation, its symptoms, and up to date treatments.  This presentation will be presented by a Registered Nurse by the Farmington Valley VNA.

Off White Lies [Hebrew with English subtitles] “After years of living apart from her dad, Libby, an introverted yet sharp-witted teenager, is sent to live with him is Israel. Her arrival coincides with the outbreak of the second Lebanon war. Libby quickly discovers that her dad, Shaul, is an infantile eccentric, and that he is 'in-between apartments' (in other words, homeless). Shaul comes up with a creative plan to put a roof over their heads - they pose as refugees from the bombarded northern region of Israel, and are taken in by a well-off family in Jerusalem. Finally in a 'normal' household, Shaul and Libby begin to build their father-daughter relationship, but their false identities can't last forever, especially as Libby unleashes teenage fury at the lies permeating her life; those she must tell now, and those she's been fed since childhood.” [89 minutes] Call the Adult Desk for more information.

misc_none 11:00 AM  -  1:00 PM Medium and Paranormal Author Sydney Sherman     Tell a Friend
Paranormal author and psychic medium Sydney Sherman will discuss her book, "You Are Not Alone." The book outlines her passage to acceptance of her life and relationships with the many spirits who inhabit her everyday world. The book goes beyond a simple biographical story of a medium. With an eye to informing and educating, Sydney Sherman approaches the paranormal with a healthy dose of common sense. Ms. Sherman encourages skepticism of paranormal claims until or unless they can be substantiated. The author looks at why and what we believe about a reality beyond our own. Her book draws distinctions between myths and the paranormal, recounts experiences with spirits and offers hints to avoid falling prey to the frauds in the paranormal field.
