  • What is an SBA Guaranteed Loan?
  • Are there grants available?
  • What is Crowdfunding?
  • What should you be aware of for each of these potential funding alternatives?

Are you a little less Y and a little more A, but can’t get enough of YA books? It’s ok, no really, it’s okay. This book group is for you! Whether you first found yourself drawn to teen books when the Hunger Games hit the big-screen or if you have been a lifelong fan, this group is for you. Funny, heart-wrenching, time-traveling, world-bending, stereotype shattering YA books have been making a mark on society for decades and it’s time for us adults who love them to stop hiding in the shadows. We meet monthly on the second Monday of the month at 7PM at the Farmington Main Library. A limited number of copies of each book on the list will be available for loan at the library, or bring your own! Refreshments will be provided.

Please register.

Great films, picked just for you!

Spend your afternnon enjoying free screenings of critically-acclaimed and award-winning films, the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Barney Library! This month's film is A United Kingdom (2016).

Based on extraordinary true events. In 1947, Seretse Khama (David Oyelowo), the King of Botswana, met Ruth Williams (Rosamund Pike), a London office worker. They were a perfect match, yet their proposed marriage was challenged not only by their families but by the British and South African governments. The latter had recently introduced the policy of apartheid and found the notion of a biracial couple ruling a neighboring country intolerable. South Africa threatened the British: either thwart the couple or be denied access to South African uranium and gold and face the risk of South Africa invading Botswana. NR. 111 minutes.

Whether you first found yourself drawn to teen books when the Hunger Games hit the big-screen or if you have been a lifelong fan, this group is for you. We meet monthly on the second Monday of the month at 7PM at the Farmington Main Library. A limited number of copies of each book on the list will be available for loan at the library, or bring your own! Refreshments will be provided.

JANUARY'S BOOK: Something Missing by Matthew Dicks

A career criminal with OCD tendencies and a savant-like genius for bringing order to his crime scenes, Martin considers himself one of the best in the biz. After all, he’s been able to steal from the same people for years on end—virtually undetected. Of course, this could also be attributed to his unique business model—he takes only items that will go unnoticed by the homeowner. After all, who in their right mind would miss a roll of toilet paper here, a half-used bottle of maple syrup there, or even a rarely used piece of china buried deep within a dusty cabinet?

ent_guitar01 2:00 PM  -  3:00 PM Garmany Music Series: Sunday Chamber Concert with Alturas Duo     Tell a Friend
    Contact: Leah Farrell   860-673-6791   lfarrell@farmingtonlibraries.org

The Alturas Duo has been recognized as one of the most engaging ensembles performing in the chamber music world today. The only group of its kind, the Duo was formed with the idea of playing South American and classical music by bringing together the unusual combination of the viola, charango and guitar, and in doing so, creating passionate music that moves at ease between the Baroque, South American folk rhythms and new pieces written especially for the Duo. The performances of Scott Hill (guitar) and Carlos Boltes (charango and viola) oscillate from the beautiful and serene to strong and pulsating, taking audiences on a journey to new musical heights.

Please register.

This event is made possible by Richard P. Garmany through a grant awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The Farmington Libraries will be hosting a variety of performances throughout the year as part of the Richard P. Garmany Music Series.
