He is also the author of books on Hurricane Carol, the Moby Dick/Back Eddy restaurant, and Fall River's best and brightest. His new book, Murder, Manslaughter, and Mayhem on the Southcoast (Hillside Media) will be for sale at the event. It focuses on murders from the 19th and 20th centuries--killings by guns, knives, axes, fists, fire, rope, and even bare hands--crimes of passion and profit.

Delvena Theatre Company’s Performance of   Lizzie Borden

Lizzie Borden and the 40 Whacks

On a scorching hot day in Fall River, back in August of 1892, a heinous crime occurred.

Spinster Lizzie Borden was accused, tried, and acquitted for the vicious axe murders of
her father and stepmother. This true unsolved mystery has fascinated people for over 100 years.

Two people died on that day in 1892, but Lizzie continues to live on in American folklore. The performance includes a mock trial that invites the audience to participate by questioning Lizzie, and voting on her guilt or innocence.

This “edutainment” production features Lynne Moulton and Joseph Zamparelli in multiple roles depicting Lizzie’s story and educating the audience members so that they may be informed “jurists.”

Did she or didn’t she? Let the audience be the judge. The cast opens up to the audience for discussion after the performance.

Volunteer to Become a Special Education Surrogate Parent

Are you interested in supporting students in your community?

You can help by volunteering to become a Special Education Surrogate Parent (SESP) for a student in state care that requires special education supports and whose parents are unknown or unavailable. These children depend on SESPs to protect their legal right to a free and appropriate education.

SESPs serve as appointed decision makers that have the legal authority of a parent or legal guardian to attend and participate in special education team meetings, approve or reject Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and if necessary, file complains or appeals. On average, the time commitment is only 30-40 hours a year.

RTSC hosts FREE Orientation Trainings throughout the state where you will learn about the role of an SESP, how traumatic experiences can impact learning and how to incorporate the appropriate supports into the IEP. Register to attend this training or visit our website at www.fcsn.org/rtsc/ to view our current training schedule for other opportunities.

Registration is required.

You can register online at http://fcsn.org/rtsc/orientations/ or contact Danielle Hardin at dhardin@fcsn.org or 617-399-8342. (PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT PHONE NUMBER.)

Join the adult coloring craze! Our coloring group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Coloring is a low-tech, fun, and creative way to beat stress and promote relaxation. We supply coloring pages, colored pencils, and markers. All ages are welcome! Meet us in the Fell Reading Room on the main floor of the library.     Contact: Danielle Hardin   617-399-8342   dhardin@fcsn.org

Adult Coloring

Join the adult coloring craze! Our coloring group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Coloring is a low-tech, fun, and creative way to beat stress and promote relaxation. Coloring books for adults typically have more complex designs than those for children and can include nature scenes, mandalas, animals, geometrics, and abstract designs. We supply coloring pages, colored pencils, and markers. All ages are welcome! Meet us in the Fell Reading Room on the main floor of the library. If you like puzzles, a puzzle table is also available!
