The Friends of the Library are a group of volunteers who work to strengthen the Library’s resources and provide additional services designed to better serve the public.

The Friends of the Library are always happy to accept new members–especially those with school-age children so as to better represent all segments of the Franklin Square community.  Meetings have thus far been held on Thursday mornings, however, current members are open to alternating daytime and evening meetings.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Library please call Interim Library Director Peggy Smith at 516-488-3444.

Tony sang on the street corners and subway stations of Brooklyn, NY during the late fifties and made his profesisonal debut in 1978 as the lead vocalist/front man of the wedding and lounge band Starfire.

Tickets are needed to attend all Sunday programs. Our highly professional Sunday programs are best enjoyed by our adult patrons. The parking lot door on the side of the building will be open to facilitate seating ( the main doors of the library are not open on Sundays). The Sunday programs start promptly at 2 PM; please arrive on time. District 17 residents may pick up tickets for the Sunday programs starting the Monday two weeks prior to the event. If any tickets remain, they will be available to all on a first-come, first served basis att he door on the afternoon of the performance.

New York based drummer and bandleader Ian Petillo, keeps it swingin' and dynamic with his Jazz Band. For twenty years, he has dedicated himself to Jazz and the Blues in its most authentic form. His versatility and artistry amplifies what traditional American music is about.

"Social Security" is Andrew Bergman's hilarious Broadway comedy hit about two married art deals struggling with a visit from the wife's goody-goody sister and her uptight CPA husband, who are there fighting over who will end up having the sisters' archetypal Jewish Mother live with them. All will soon learn that age is only a state of mind. You must register and pay in full at the Reference Desk by Tuesday, September 1, 2015. The cost is $80.00 for bus, lunch, and show. Checks only must be payable to the "Friends of the Franklin Square Library". This is a non-refundable trip, unless cancelled by the Friends of the Franklin Square Library. Bus pickup will be at 8:30AM at the Franklin  Square Library with the estimated drop off time being 5:15PM.

The Friends of the Library are a group of volunteers who work to strengthen the Library’s resources and provide additional services designed to better serve the public.

The Friends of the Library are always happy to accept new members–especially those with school-age children so as to better represent all segments of the Franklin Square community.  Meetings have thus far been held on Thursday mornings, however, current members are open to alternating daytime and evening meetings.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Library please call Interim Library Director Peggy Smith at 516-488-3444.
