FREE FAMILY CONCERT: TWO HANDS HOLD THE EARTH

Families with young children, treat yourselves to a special free concert Saturday morning, December 5 at 10:30 with the wonderful Sarah Pirtle.
The community is invited to a joyful concert for all ages with the award-winning singer-songwriter.
Sarah is celebrating the release of her ninth recording, "Pocketful of Wonder," which celebrates local farm life.
When she made her first recording, it was the first collection of ecology songs for children, and still today she is part of the growing national awareness of the educational and developmental benefits of nature for children. Humorous songs about picking up chickens, lively rhyming songs like "A Seed Knows What to Do," and her most famous songs "My Roots Go Down" and "Two Hands Hold the Earth," will be included as she invites people to sing along.

With the latest technology, her new recording includes a fifty-page activity book, as well as photos of Red Gate Farm in Buckland, which inspired some of the songs.
Sarah received the Magic Penny Award for lifetime achievement in children’s music for the international impact of her work and is known for creating songs that adults love as much as children.
Her hero Pete Seeger says, "If you want to hear some of the best songs out there today for children, listen to Sarah Pirtle." Sarah taught herself to play guitar at age 12 using Pete's guitar book and never dreamed that she and her son would get to know Pete herself.

With humor and warmth, Sarah beckons us to experience the exploration and enchantment of the seasons, farm life, city neighborhoods, and family time.
These lively songs encourage outdoor play and a childhood nourished by imagination, curiosity, and nature.

This event is free and open to everyone, thanks to the Friends of the Library.
