Mother Goose on the Loose

Join the happy circle with Kay Lyons at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under with a grown-up every Friday morning at the Greenfield Public Library. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Children and grown-ups shake rattles, tap rhythm sticks, wave colored scarves, ring bells, and do knee bounces to simple sing-along tunes that everybody learns together. You will find yourself singing them in the car, and at bath time, bed time, or any time you need a song. Go on the loose with Mother Goose! It’s so much fun! Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time. No sign-up is required, and the program is free of charge thanks to the generosity of the Friends of Greenfield Public Library.

Writer's Lunch Writing Workshop

This two-hour writing workshop is held on Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. as part of the Library's Writer's Lunch. Jane Buchanan and Joannah Whitney lead the program, which includes writing exercises and discussion as well as an opportunity to share what has been written. Participants are encouraged to attend the open writing periods during the week as well. There is no charge for the workshop and registration is not required.
The library began offering the Writers Lunch in 2011 as part of the National Novel Writing Month to give writers a quiet place to work during their lunch hour. While the space will still be available four days per week for that purpose, the library now provides a weekly workshop for writers who would like a bit more structure to their writing time.

Open For Business at the GPL

The GPL will make the LeVanway Meeting Room available on Mondays and Fridays from 2-5pm for local businesspeople and telecommuters who need a quiet place to work that has reliable wireless Internet Access.
Access to the room will be free and open to all who need a space to work.

Parents with kids 5 and under, please join us for a weekly hour of story and craft time fun! Meet other people with small children and enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays, and crafts with Sally Ahearn.
