		Drop off your used book donations at the library today between the hours of 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Donated items need to be in good condition. Cookbooks, works of fiction (especially mysteries), paperbacks, children's books, and gently used CDs and DVDs are greatly appreciated. The library will not accept sets of encyclopedias, Readers Digest condensed books, textbooks, or books that are damaged. All donations become the property of the Green Tree Public Library and may be disposed of at the discretion of library staff. A receipt may be obtained upon request at the time of donation.

		Reading doesn't have to be a solitaire activity when you join our book club! This informal group gets together at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month to chat about the current book selection. At the conclusion of each book club, participants get to select the next month's title. Read ahead of time by ordering the book through the library's catalog; stop by the front desk if you need assistance. Or, you can always just drop in to see what the club is all about. 		Beneath the Surface: Teen Summer Reading (Grades 6 - 12)
		Teens won’t want to miss the Beneath the Surface Reading Club. Open to those entering sixth through twelfth grade, this reading club features weekly prize drawings for gift cards and other cool stuff. The more you read, the better your chances of winning! Plus, for every 100 minutes read teens will earn tickets for our end-of-summer raffle. Teens that meet their reading goal can also swim and eat endless pizza at our pool party in August. Registration will begin online starting June 10, 2013.

		Dig Into Reading: Summer Reading For Young Readers (Birth - Preschool)
		Children from babies to those in their preschool years are invited to participate in Dig Into Reading, a Summer Reading Club that celebrates the fun of digging into a great book. Young readers can be read to or practice reading on their own. Either way, they’ll collect toys, coupons, and other prizes, and also earn tickets for an end-of-summer raffle! If that isn’t incentive enough, there’s a pool party in August too, which is open to children who meet their reading goals. Registration will begin online starting June 10, 2013.

		Groundbreaking Reads: Summer Reading for Adults (Ages 18 and Up)
		This summer, the library is encouraging adults to experience the joy of reading! Open to ages 18 and up, participants in this club read to win! Each adult who participates is asked to set a goal of the number of books they hope to read across the eight weeks in summer. Those who meet or exceed their goals are awarded a book of their choice. In addition, for every book read and logged, participants are entered in a raffle to win a Kindle Fire. Registration begins online starting June 10, 2013

		Questyinz: Summer Reading for Students (Grades K - 5)
		The Green Tree Public Library, in partnership with the Allegheny County Library Association, is excited to bring back a new and improved Questyinz, an innovative way to stay focused on reading and avoid the “summer slide” for all school-aged children. This interactive online summer reading game challenges students to not only enjoy books and track their minutes read, but also to explore new subjects, practice lessons learned in school, explore their communities, and visit the Green Tree Public Library. Students will earn badges, decorate their clubhouse, and be awarded special game treats all summer long. And if that’s not enough, students will also earn raffle tickets for each 100 minutes read for our end of the summer giveaways too. Plus, there will be a special way to get invited to the end-of-summer pool party too! Registration begins online starting June 10, 2013.

Our instructor is a certified Spanish teacher who will teach adults Spanish fundamentals. Each class will focus on a unique theme, highlight Spanish & Mexican culture and will build on what you have learned. By the end of the summer, you'll be saying more than just "Hola." This program is for adults ages 18 and up. A $35 fee is required upon registration. This fee is non-refundable unless the library cancels the instruction course. Registration must be done in-person at Green Tree Public Library starting May 1, 2013 and before June 8, 2013. Additional funding for this program is made possible by the William Z. Nasri Grant, which supports language initiatives at the Green Tree Public Library. Registration is required. Space is limited.

Using a paper board, kids will try to put their origami competition on the ground by tapping the board. Space is limited and registration is required.

		Are you a kid who has science on the brain all of the time? Have you ever wondered how to make a battery? Or do you just like to tinker with your toys? Well then this workshop is for you. The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh will be hosting this workshop so that you can explore the basics of electronics with batteries and motors. Children will explore electronics through hands-on experiences and will even transform everyday items into moving creatures. This program is for children in Grades 3 to 5. A $4.00 per person non-refundable registration fee is due by Tuesday, June 18. Money must be delivered to the Green Tree Public Library and checks can be made out to Green Tree Public Library. Our instructor will give you tips on how to adjust poses for your own physical needs and will give you tips on how to continue yoga practice in the future. This program is for adults ages 18 and up. 		Kids, here's your chance to spread some random acts of kindness! Using paper, pens, markers and other art supplies the library sets out, you'll create positive messages for unsuspecting library users. Write a note, share a poem or quote or draw a happy picture, and then place these items inside books around the library for a person to discover someday. 		Calling all book lovers! The Green Tree Public Library is hosting a book swap so that you can trade your old (but in good condition books) for someone else's books! Bring anywhere between 1 to 6 books to the library on the afternoon the book swap. For each book you bring, you'll be allowed to trade in your book and take a new one home. For free! Be sure to read the Book Swap Rules and register! Book Swap Rules 1. Children in Grades 1 to 6 may participate. 2. Children can bring anywhere between 1 to 6 books to trade. No one will take home more books than they brought to swap. 3. Books may be in gently-used, but in good condition (no missing pages, crayon marks, stains that prohibit reading, etc.). 4. 		Browse thousands of gently-used items at the Friends of the Green Tree Public Library Annual Used Book Sale. Held at the Green Tree Municipal Center, this fundraiser and community event will kick off with the Friends of the Library Preview Sale on Thursday, October 3 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Obtain a Friends membership year-round in the library or on the night of the Preview Sale at a cost of $5 per individual or $8 per family. The sale debuts to the general public on Friday, October 4 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and continues on Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be a $6 bag sale on Sunday, October 6 from noon until 4 p.m. and $5 bag sale on Monday, October 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Look for blue light specials throughout the sale. Not only will a vast selection of hardback and paperback titles be available for purchase, but also vintage books, music, videos, books on CD and more. Most items will be priced at just one dollar. The Friends support the library through volunteering, fundraising and making donations. Their biggest fundraiser of the year is the Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale, which is held every September. Friends membership is open to anyone who has paid their dues - $5 for a single membership and $8 for a family membership. Stop by the front desk to join!

		Drop off your used book donations at the library today between the hours of 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Donated items need to be in good condition. Cookbooks, works of fiction (especially mysteries), paperbacks, children's books, and gently used CDs and DVDs are greatly appreciated. The library will not accept sets of encyclopedias, Readers Digest condensed books, textbooks, or books that are damaged. All donations become the property of the Green Tree Public Library and may be disposed of at the discretion of library staff. A receipt may be obtained upon request at the time of donation.
