Check out the Books in Bloom show in the library this week and join us for a reception to award prizes and recognize library volunteers. Flower and/or craft arrangements centering on books will be on display in the library from April 26 to May 3. Enter anytime during the week for your chance to win a beautiful hanging basket generously donated by Nessralla Farm. Winner will be drawn at the Books in Bloom reception. Raffle proceeds benefit the Friends of the Holmes Public Library.

Senator Thomas P. Kennedy will hold office hours on Monday, April 28 from 7pm to 8pm at the Holmes Public Library Community Room. All residents of the Second Plymouth and Bristol District are welcome.
The district consists of the city of Brockton and the towns of East Bridgewater (Precincts 1 to 3), Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Plympton and Whitman in Plymouth County; and the town of Easton (Precincts 1 and 2) in Bristol County.

An informational forum on the proposed purchase of the All Seasons Restaurant on Plymouth Street for a new Council on Aging center will be held at the Holmes Public Library on Monday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. Presentation by the Municipal and School Building Committee and a Q&A. Residents are invited to attend this informational forum and ask questions before Town Meeting, especially anyone who is unable to attend the second public hearing on this subject to be held at Town Hall on Wednesday, May 30, at 7 p.m.

The Council on Aging and the Holmes Public Library team up to present Issues of the Day with Rep. Thomas J. Calter. Rep. Calter will talk about the issues that state legislators are wrestling with at the time. Probably the two top issues will be the state minimum wage and the state budget. All are welcome to attend. Bring your questions!

Tom Calter is the State Representative for the 12th Plymouth District, which consists of the towns of Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton, as well as precincts 1, 11, and 13 in Plymouth; precinct 1 in Duxbury; and precinct 1 in Middleboro.

The Friends of the Library's Annual Book & Bake Sale is one of the Friends' major fundraisers of the year. Please bring your donations of gently used books, DVDs, and audiobooks to the library starting May 1. Please make sure donations are in good saleable condition, free of dust or mildew. Please drop them off during the library's open hours, Mon & Wed 12-8; Tues, Thurs, & Fri, 10-5; and Sat, 10-2.

Volunteers will also be needed to help sort, set up, and clean up, as well as during the hours of the sale. Please give the Friends or the library your name and contact information if you would like to be contacted to help at the sale or to contribute baked goods for the sale.
