The Friends of the Holmes Public Library will hold their annual Book & Bake Sale on Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library. Donations of gently used books, DVDs, and CDs are welcome during the month of May. Please bring your donations in during regular library hours, and then remember to come back and shop the sale! This year, whatever is left after the day of the sale will be made available for sale during regular library hours the following week, so come back and browse again for even bigger bargains!

The Friends will also be looking for donations of baked goods on Friday, May 29, and the morning of the sale. If you would like to bake something for the sale, please email the Friends at friendsoftheholmeslibrary@gmail.com or call the library at 781-293-2271 to get on the bakers' list.

Please, no encyclopedias or magazine donations! (They do not sell.) Thank you!

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Holmes Public Library, a group that supports the Holmes Public Library through fundraising activities and volunteering.

Tick-borne disease is the fastest-growing reportable disease for Halifax and many New England towns. The list of diseases spread by ticks is also fast growing. Find out more about tick-borne and mosquito-borne diseases and what you can do to prevent them at a presentation by the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association and the Halifax Board of Health.
 
This talk will be presented twice at the Holmes Public Library:
Tuesday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. and Monday June 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Celebrate the library's 21st anniversary and the return of Saturday hours on Saturday, September 12, with a noontime concert by Ginamark, a popular local band from Kingston who entertain crowds with a mix of pop, rock, and country music from the 50s through today. Bring your own brown bag lunch! The Friends of the Library will provide cold drinks and ice cream or Popsicles.
The open-air performance will be moved inside to the Community Room in case of rain or threatening weather. Indoor seating will be limited.
 
This anniversary concert is funded by the Halifax Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
