Displaying this month are four local artists: Carolyn Munaco, Steve Brown, Becky Rosko, and Jennifer Garry. It all started out as a BANG, and as they differentiated they began to develop unique voices. These voices are translated through the camera lens, on canvas, in found objects, and more. All are welcome to enjoy this unique show.

You will get hints on how to start your research and a list of online resources that you can access at the library or from home. The Teen Department is hosting a series of fundraising events to be held in September and October for the Southampton Animal Shelter. Their mission is to provide for the welfare of the ever growing number of homeless animals, and, in turn, to place them in permanent caring homes. The Shelter is primarily dedicated to caring for the homeless animals in our community of twenty-two towns. They also rescue dogs from “kill shelters” from across the country and rehabilitate and find loving homes for adult dogs from puppy mills.

 Explore the fall wonders of Dune Road, Hampton Bays: the “Stop-over Hotel” to thousands of south-bound migrating shore birds. Meet our guide Eileen Schwinn at the Shinnecock Inlet Park Jetty to view the ocean and bay birds, and then proceed by car to various stopping points along the way. Bring binoculars, sunscreen, water and insect repellent. This is mostly a car field trip, with very little walking, but a lot of standing! No fee; no beach pass needed. (Rain date: Saturday, September 20)

The word Vinyasa is Sanskrit meaning “breath-synchronized movement.” This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. The former Book Babies and Book Babies in Action classes have now been combined into this comprehensive program.  More children and more adults allow for more friendships to blossom and more fun to be had.  There will be a storytime, interactive fingerplays, songs and flannel-boards.  Free time will be available at the end for parents to chat and babies to play with age-appropriate, educational toys.

3 - 5 years independent. This class for preschool age children will meet twice a week and have a limited registration.  Inspired by Waldorf and other alternative educational philosophies, this program will strive to transform learning and play into an art that educates the whole child.  Through mindful techniques this learning program will provide an opportunity for socialization, growth in self-esteem, an outlet for creativity through nature-inspired art and craft work and amazing play

This class is limited to 16 children.  It is in the children’s best interest to continue in this class for a significant length of time, with this in mind 6 children from the previous session will remain in the class via lottery and there will be open registration for the remaining 10.  As with our regular registration policy, the remaining 10 will be registered on a first come, first served basis, in person on Friday, September 5. Children from the previous session who did not make the lottery are free to register in person on Thursday, Friday, September 5 as well.

This class for preschool age children will meet twice a week and have a limited registration.  Inspired by Waldorf and other alternative educational philosophies, this program will strive to transform learning and play into an art that educates the whole child.  Through mindful techniques this learning program will provide an opportunity for socialization, growth in self-esteem, an outlet for creativity through nature-inspired art and craft work and amazing play

This class is limited to 16 children.  It is in the children’s best interest to continue in this class for a significant length of time, with this in mind 6 children from the previous session will remain in the class via lottery and there will be open registration for the remaining 10.  As with our regular registration policy, the remaining 10 will be registered on a first come, first served basis, in person on Friday, September 5. Children from the previous session who did not make the lottery are free to register in person on Thursday, Friday, September 5 as well.  

Our Fall Weeklies begin on Monday, September 22 & run for five weeks (through the week of October 20).  Registration for this session begins Friday, September 5 and is ongoing through this session.  Registration must be in person.  Each child must have his/her own HBPL library card in order to register.

Robert Bloom is a published photographic artist concentrating on Long Island Landscapes and Seascapes. ‘Photographic Art’ is a hybrid art form which combines photography and computer-facilitated painting. A creative editing process produces digital images that resemble paintings. Robert Bloom’s artwork has been accepted for numerous solo exhibitions at universities and other prestigious venues throughout Long Island.

This class is limited to 16 children.  It is in the children’s best interest to continue in this class for a significant length of time, with this in mind 6 children from the previous session will remain in the class via lottery and there will be open registration for the remaining 10.  As with our regular registration policy, the remaining 10 will be registered on a first come, first served basis, in person on Friday, September 5. Children from the previous session who did not make the lottery are free to register in person on Thursday, Friday, September 5 as well.

This class is limited to 16 children.  It is in the children’s best interest to continue in this class for a significant length of time, with this in mind 6 children from the previous session will remain in the class via lottery and there will be open registration for the remaining 10.  As with our regular registration policy, the remaining 10 will be registered on a first come, first served basis, in person on Friday, September 5. Children from the previous session who did not make the lottery are free to register in person on Thursday, Friday, September 5 as well.

 You will see artifacts such as the steel “tridents” that anchored the towers, the preserved “survivor’s staircase”, the last steel column removed from the site after a nine month cleanup, and tributes to those who perished in the attack. We will arrive at the museum by 11:00 am on day of “Do Your Own Thing” bus trip and have two hours to explore the Museum and take a self-guided tour around the WTC Memorial. Lunch is at 2:15 pm; we will return after lunch. Patrons will go by coach bus with Prime Time Travel. There will be multiple pickups en route. Bus departs Hampton Bays at 7:30 am. Payment is due by September 24.  Limited tickets.  Museum and lunch cost is $102 age 65 and over, or $109 for those under 65. You MUST bring ID to enter museum. 

Please note: for bus trips departing from The Church of St. Rosalie, you must park in the back of the lot alongside Bishop Ryan Village.

  Peter’s class offers advanced stretches and poses. The word Vinyasa is Sanskrit meaning “breath-synchronized movement.” This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. This class is limited to 16 children.  It is in the children’s best interest to continue in this class for a significant length of time, with this in mind 6 children from the previous session will remain in the class via lottery and there will be open registration for the remaining 10.  As with our regular registration policy, the remaining 10 will be registered on a first come, first served basis, in person on Friday, September 5. Children from the previous session who did not make the lottery are free to register in person on Thursday, Friday, September 5 as well.
