misc_none Art on Display
    Contact: Library   631 728-6241   circulation@hamptonbayslibrary.org

Every month the paintings, photography, sculpture and other creative crafts are displayed in the Helen Gould Room located directly off the main foyer, and in the Lower Lobby display cases. We are pleased to present the following exhibitions:

March:  This month David Kornrumpf will exhibit his work The Land of Fenar, an amazing world that grew out of his love of fantasy authors and a deep fascination for English fantasy artists. These propelled David to develop The Land’s own topography, places of serenity, mystery and wonder in his paintings and drawings. There will be an Artist Reception on Sunday, March 4 from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Helen Gould Room.

April:  Displaying this month is local artist Paul Padovano. An avid nature lover, the artist draws inspiration from Nature and never misses an opportunity to capture that beauty on canvas. Mr. Padovano’s paintings are frequently shown in libraries, banks and town halls across Suffolk County, and he participates regularly in outdoor shows in Westhampton, Southampton, Hampton Bays and at The North Fork vineyards. There will be an Artist Reception on Sunday, February 11 from 1:00-3:00 pm in the Helen Gould Room.

Every month the paintings, photography, sculpture and other creative crafts are displayed in the Helen Gould Room located directly off the main foyer, and in the Lower Lobby display cases. We are pleased to present the following exhibitions:

May: The West of the Canal Group (aka WOC) is a collective of East End artists formed to pursue a passion for interpreting faces and clothed figures. The group works in various media and styles, from gesture drawings to more developed pieces from longer poses. Their goal is to share their fascination with drawing and painting from life, and to seek visibility for their art. Participating artists are: Kitty Blumberg, Carol Carlsen, Keith Mantell, Hannah Ritter, Saul Rosenstreich, Frances Sherman and Edythe Thomkinson. An Artist Reception will be held on May 20 from 3:00-5:00 pm in the Helen Gould Room.

June:  Displaying this month is artist Christine Dupuis. Ms. Dupuis organizes a group called Island East Plein Air Painters that goes out weekly to various locations. Her goal is to see the Plein Air painting movement grow on the North Fork of Long Island where the land is plentiful. Her choice of medium is oil paint because of the buttery texture and rich depth of color it provides. Christine is trained in the classical method of the Old Masters and is compelled to find a way to make “Old Meet New” in a contemporary fashion, and she is attracted to the way the light truly illuminates the subject. There will be an Artist Reception on Sunday, June 3 from 1:00-2:30 pm in the Helen Gould Room.
