Tuesday mornings at 10:15 am in the Community Room. Drop in, $7 per class.

Join Nadene Racek for this gentle, unique exercise program that blends elements of non-impact aerobics, strength training, yoga postures, breathing, and guided relaxation. 

Everyone is welcome for this fun and energetic workout which will improve muscle tone, increase range of motion, elevate your heart rate, burn calories, and relieve stress and joint pain.

A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support and modifications offered depending on fitness levels.

Minimum of 10 people needed to proceed ongoing.

Nadene Racek is a certified group exercise instructor who has been teaching for over 40 years. She has been practicing yoga since the early 1970’s and has alway been drawn to the mind body connection.  Her teaching style is energetic and she pays particular attention to alignment, flexibility and breath with a focus on postures that benefit people with stiff joints due to arthritis.

March 17 - NOTICE: In accordance with the CDC's COVID-19 recommendation to cancel events with 50 or more people for 8 weeks, Lower Moreland Township and Huntingdon Valley Library have decided to cancel this year's Spring Egg Hunt. Thank you for your understand and stay healthy!

Join us for Lower Moreland Township's Annual Egg Hunt! Bring a bag or basket to collect eggs. Eggs will be filled with candy and prizes! Meet Peter Rabbit.

Time breakdown for ages:

  • 10:30 am - Ages birth to 3
  • 10:35 am - Ages 4 & 5
  • 10:40 am - Ages 6 & 7
  • 10:45 am - Ages 8-10

Location: Outside the Library on the lawn between Huntingdon Valley Library and Lower Moreland High School.

Egg Hunt will be held rain or shine. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the library complex (with age locations announced prior to the event if rain is suspected).

Pride (2014, United Kingdom)

In the summer of ’84, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini-bus to make their donation in person. And so begins the extraordinary story of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership. (120 minutes)

Introducing our new CSI Club for Teens! This collaboration with the township provides students the opportunity to learn skills from the experts. Lower Moreland officers and professionals from the civilian evidence and detective divisions will teach each unique session and lend the use of real investigation equipment.

Each class during this series will focus on a new set of topics. The series will culminate in two full crime scene investigations in which students can practice the skills they've learned and prepare a case to be presented to the Lower Moreland Chief of Police. Classes will occasionally take place outside and involve escorted walks to the precinct. 

Students should register for each class in this series separately and may attend any combination of classes. 

April 16 topics: Arson & Prints (foot and tire)

For students in grades 6 - 12.

Drop in during these tutoring sessions and learn from the generation who has grown up with this technology. Our students will be available for one-on-one tutoring on topics such as email, downloads, printing and saving, social media, setting up accounts across mutiple devices, and more. 

Be sure to bring any device with which you need assistance. We will also have ipads and laptops available for demonstration. Please arrive with any passwords necessary to access your devices and accounts.

Please note, we are unable to troubleshoot or fix malfunctioning devices, or take apart and replace physical parts on a device.

Pride (2014, United Kingdom)

 

In the summer of ’84, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini-bus to make their donation in person. And so begins the extraordinary story of two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership. (120 minutes)

Introducing our new CSI Club for Teens! This collaboration with the township provides students the opportunity to learn skills from the experts. Lower Moreland officers and professionals from the civilian evidence and detective divisions will teach each unique session and lend the use of real investigation equipment.

Each class during this series will focus on a new set of topics. The series will culminate in two full crime scene investigations in which students can practice the skills they've learned and prepare a case to be presented to the Lower Moreland Chief of Police. Classes will occasionally take place outside and involve escorted walks to the precinct. 

Students should register for each class in this series separately and may attend any combination of classes. 

April 30: Crime Scene Investigation 2

For students in grades 6 - 12.

Call the Library at 215-947-5138 to register or complete the registration form below.

Bring your AARP card or number and your dirver's license, with fees payable to "AARP," to class.

Fees: $20 for AARP members and $25 for other. Out of state students are allowed
Notice: Prices increased $5 on July 1.

Lunch may also be brought to the class. Vending machines are available on the ground level.

In Honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, please join us as Neill brings history alive!
 
Neill Hartley is president Woodrow Wilson in this exciting one–man show set in the turbulent days leading up to World War I. A world filled with international intrigue, deadly U-Boat attacks and secret diplomatic communiqués that would slowly draw America into war.

See Woodrow Wilson and his advisors as they work out the details of war. Hear the moving declarations of one of the most famous American orators.

Neill Hartley is professional actor, director and educator. He has principal roles in The Sixth SenseFirst Freedom (PBS documentary) and can be seen as the Secretary of the Treasury in seasons two, three and four of the Netflix series House of Cards. For over seven years, Neill has been seen on QVC as a spokesperson for two national companies. His works regularly in industrial and voice over projects, and has appeared in regional and national commercials for PA Lottery, PA Tourism, Auto Lenders, Benari Jewelers and TaxSlayer.com. 

Neill is an assistant professor of voice and speech at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and has acted as a speech/dialect coach for several professional theater productions. He holds an MFA in Acting from Temple University.
