Teen Grab-N-Go Kits include supplies and instructions for a creative project. This kit contains materials to create your own Hydro Dipped Mug! This project will be perfect for holiday gift giving. 

Each kit will come with instructions, but participants are also encouraged to attend our DIY Teens Virtual Meet-Up on Thursday, December 3, when we will gather together in Zoom to work on our projects.

Supplies are limited and registration is required.

For students entering grades 6-12. 

Once reserved, kits can be picked up during our contactless pick-up hours from November 30 - December 5. An email with pick-up instructions will be sent to registrants.

Grab-N-Go Kits include supplies and instructions for a craft project. This kit for younger kids contains materials to make your own salt snowflakes.  Each kit will come with instructions for this simple craft.

Supplies are limited and registration is required.

Recommended for toddlers to 2nd graders.

Once reserved, kits can be picked up during our Contactless Pickup hours the week of November 30-December 5.

Get settled in a comfy chair and join us online to trade book recommendations, share what you’re reading, explore topics for future tea times, and get to know our new Assistant Director, Christy!

Stop by the library beforehand to pick up your choice of a bag of tea or packet of cocoa to enjoy from home during our discussion. Choose from cocoa, Earl Grey, Chamomile, or a selection of English teas.

Join us on Facebook or YouTube* for our Virtual Storytime! Each week, there will be a new theme with stories, songs, and movement activities to encourage pre-reading skills.

Storytime is recommended for preschoolers and toddlers.

The premiere video will be posted on the HVL Facebook page and YouTube at 10:30 am. It will remain available to view for one week.

Join in for this DIY Teens virtual meet-up when we will work on our Hydro Dipped Mug Kits together. We will meet via Zoom to get started on our projects, ask questions, and share progress. 

Registration for the Hydro Dipped Mug Kit is required and can be completed here. Everyone who reserves the Grab-N-Go Mug kit will receive the Zoom meeting ID and password to participate in the DIY Teens Meet-Up for the project.

Join Miss Vanessa on Facebook or YouTube* for this lapsit Storytime featuring songs, rhymes, movement, and books for the youngest library patrons. Introduce your little ones to the sounds and rhythms of the spoken word, and give them a head start on language learning.

Recommended for babies up to 18 months and their caregivers.

Our Fall Reading Challenge runs from September 21 through December 6. Register and participate using our Beanstack site or find Huntingdon Valley Library on the Beanstack app.  Let us know how much you read this fall and you could win prizes.* It's that easy!  Challenges are available for children, teens, and adults, and also include optional activities, review-writing opportunities, and book recommendation lists. Can we beat our summer reading time this fall? 

*All reading must be logged and tickets for prizes submitted by 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 6.  Prize winners will be drawn on Monday, December 7. All prizes must be picked up at the library. They cannot be mailed.

Grab-N-Go Kits include supplies and instructions for a craft project. This kit for older kids contains supplies for creating an acrylic* painting.  An accompanying video instruction with Miss Kathleen will be released on Saturday, December 12 at 2 pm on Facebook and YouTube.

Supplies are limited and registration is required. Recommended for children in grades 3-5.

*PLEASE NOTE: Acrylic paint does not wash out. You should wear old or protective clothing when doing this project. Most supplies will be provided, but we are unable to provide easels. If you do not have your own easel and will be painting on a flat surface, we highly recommend laying the canvas on newspaper or magazine or something else to protect any surfaces from getting paint on them. Some newspaper will be provided in the kit for you.

Reserved kits will be available to pick up during our Curbside Pickup hours the week of December 7-13. 

Curbside Pickup hours

  • Monday-Thursday: 10 am-8 pm
  • Friday-Saturday: 10 am-4 pm
  • Sunday: 1-4 pm

The Teen Advisory Board (T.A.B.) is Huntingdon Valley Library's group of youth advisors in grades 9-12. T.A.B. meets with library staff once a month to brainstorm ideas, prepare for events, and work on creative projects that improve our library, all while earning service hours!

To join T.A.B., or for more information, please contact Beth at hvlysa@mclinc.org. All fall and winter meetings will be held virtually through Zoom.

Calling all Potterheads! Test your Hogwarts knowledge against other patrons during our live virtual trivia contest! Compete as a family or play on your own. Trivia will feature questions about both the books and the movies.

For Harry Potter fans of all ages.

Registration is required. You will need two different devices (or separate screens/browser windows) to participate. Questions will be streamed live via Zoom, and you will answer the questions via Kahoot (can be done on your smartphone or other device). No account is necessary for either Zoom or Kahoot.

Registration will close 1 hour before the start of this program. The Zoom and Kahoot links will be sent out at that time.  You must register for this event to receive the link and password. When registering, please use the email address for which you'd like the Zoom & Kahoot login information sent to on the day of the event.
