Volunteer! Join the Teen Think Tank, the Library's fun and inventive teen advisory board.
The TTT is for ages 11-18, grades 6 to 12. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM for 90 minutes.
The TTT works to improve collections (books, movies, music, audiobooks, etc.) and to create programs and services designed for teens in this community.
Attendance at meetings and TTT events and projects is approved for high school community service hours.
Come share your bright ideas!...and don't worry about dinner; we have pizza delivered.

The time commitment to be a member of Teen Think Tank is mainly to constructively participate for 90 minutes a month on the first Thursday of the month at the TTT meeting. Regular monthly attendance is expected as a membership requirement, as attendance is important for continuity and progress in accomplishing things. Occasionally there will be something outside of the monthly 90 minute meeting time that will require your participation.

To join the TTT, please stop by the Library and talk with Kim Claire, Young Adult Librarian, or call 978-468-5577 x14.

    Contact: Rebecca Shea   978-468-5577   rshea@hwlibrary.org

In 1837, teenaged Victoria ascended to the British throne, untrained and innocent. Those who would try to usurp her power underestimated this self-willed intelligent young woman whose mettle sustained her through her 63-year reign. Using Queen Victoria's diary and letters, this program reveals the personal details of a powerful yet humane woman, who took seriously her role as monarch in a time of great expansion. She and her husband, Albert, set an example of high moral character and dedication, a novelty in the royal house after generations of scandal. In a first person portrayal, Sally Mummey performs this living history in proper 19th century clothing resplendent with Royal Orders.   Free and open to the public, funded by the Friends.

Join local author and historian Olga Morrill for a discussion on Quaker history in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.  Plymouth Rock and the Puritan landing in 1620 figure prominently in Massachusetts history, but the century and a half between that event and the American Revolution of 1775 is largely a mystery. Few people are aware of the shocking events that occured in 17th century New England. What was Colonial life like for the first generation of American-born settlers? How did the Puritans govern? Why did they react so violently to the Religious Society of Friends? Who were the original proponents of religious tolerance on American soil?  Sponsored in partnership with the Hamilton Historical Society & the Friends of the Library.  Free and open to the public.
