Featuring over 20 beautifully hand-crafted marionettes, 'The Fairy Circus' is a showcase for turn-of-the-century style trick puppetry. The puppets will dance, play instruments, juggle, contort, transform, and fly through the air with the greatest of ease, all to the best loved music of favorite composers.

Henna is used in many cultures around the world as a temporary adornment on the body. Nimmi Sehgal, the original Henna artist of Newbury Street Boston since 1997, and owner of Boston Henna in Framingham, will be here for two hours applying henna designs to a hand or a foot. While you wait your turn we'll be showing a Hindi movie.

Open to teens entering grades 6-12 in Fall 2018. Registration is required. A sign up sheet will available at the Reference Desk beginning June 1st. Call 978-468-5577 to reserve your spot, or drop by the Reference desk on the second floor. There is no charge to attend. Funded by the Friends of the Hamilton-Wenham Library.

Copies of the play are available for checkout, and join us on Friday, July 27 at 6:30 on the Rec Center's Fairhaven Field to view the production by Theater in the Open.

Join us for our first outdoor movie screening at Patton Park! In partnership with the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Department we will be showing: Coco, rated PG. Bring the family, your beach chairs, cushions and blankets for a community viewing of the movie that won Oscars this year for best animated movie and best original song. Synopsis from imdb.com: "Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer."

Free and open to the public. Funded by the Friends of the Hamilton-Wenham Library and the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Department. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Feel free to bring a cushion for the chair and a friend. July 24: Spotlight on Judy Garland in 1949's In the Good Old Summertime, 1 hour 45 minutes. July 31: Spotlight on Debbie Reynolds in 1952's Singin' in the Rain, 1 hour 45 minutes.  Aug. 7 Spotlight on Dick Van Dyke in 1963's Bye Bye Birdie, 2 hours.

This family event creates in-the-moment music through drums and percussion instruments. Play with accessible rhythm activities, games, traditional culturally specific ensemble pieces, songs, and improvisation.

Come play in a drum circle! Experience rhythm and sound and what it means to beat as one heart. Design your own rhythms and in-the-moment rap rhymes and chants as you create solid beats that pop and move. No experience necessary. 

Otha Day teaches on faculties of several schools in Massachusetts and Southern Vermont. He has taught courses at Williams College on "Rhythm-Based Communication and Creativity". He has also taught courses on "Music of the Harlem Renaissance," Music Theory, and Jazz History.

Go on a field trip to Barnes and Noble to choose books & games for our teen collections. To participate you must join the Library's teen advisory board, the Teen Think Tank, and have attended at least one previous Teen Think Tank meeting during 2018. Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month. Parent/guardian permission forms are due by July 19th.
