misc_none 9:00 AM  -  11:00 AM Storytelling Towers art installation Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Susan

Alameda International High School students, guided by Art teachers Jenna Waite-Gannon and Michelle Yoon, have created story-telling towers that illustrate scenes from either childhood stories or tales they wrote. Following research and sketching their scenes, these 9th- and 10th-grade students crafted large cardboard towers as a canvas, then re-created scenes from their stories on each of the sides of the towers. The installation will be on display in the Belmar children's area until August 1.

Hugo

Book clubs are fun right? Well how much more fun do you think they would be if there were movies and snacks involved too? A lot I bet. Teen Movie Club is a twist on the traditional book club. Every month you guys will read a new book, and then we will meet to watch the movie based on it. After the film, we'll discuss if it was better than the book, if it was an awful, no-good, horrible travesty, or even if it was just OK. Now I know what you're thinking, "A whole new book every month? I don't have time for that!" And that's fine too. Come and watch the movie, eat a snack, and add your thoughts on just the movie to the discussion.

Travel to Paris in the 1930's with Hugo Cabret as we watch Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
