Between the world and me

Tuesday nights are when our Conifer Book Group gets together to discuss great reads. This month we're discussing Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. In a series of essays, written as a letter to his son, Coates confronts the notion of race in America and how it has shaped American history, many times at the cost of black bodies and lives. Thoughtfully exploring personal and historical events, from his time at Howard University to the Civil War, the author poignantly asks and attempts to answer difficult questions that plague modern society. New members always welcome!

Imagine. More discoveries have been made about our universe in the last 50 years than in all of our prior human history. Delve into the wonders of our universe by reading, watching documentaries and discussing. We begin with the Neil DeGrasse Tyson's, “Welcome to the Universe” and embark on a journey into our cosmic neighborhood, with quasars, super novae and black holes. If you’ve ever looked up into the night sky and wondered what else is out there, this group is for you.
