Computer ClassWhat is "the cloud" and how do you use it?  Learn just what the cloud is, then how to create a Google Drive account and use it to store (upload) and edit (download and edit) documents and other files.  We'll look at Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Prerequisites:  Some familiarity with file management, Windows commands and the Internet.

Computer classes are free but require registration.  Please visit your local library or call (303) 235-5275 to register for classes.  Classes with fewer than four people registered 24 hours prior to class time may be cancelled.

Colorado author David Baron presents his new book, American Eclipse: A Nation's Epic Race to Catch the Shadow of the Moon and Win the Glory of the World. In 1878, a total solar eclipse crossed our nation and astronomers from around the world gathered in the Western states to view it and perform astronomy experiments. American Eclipse focuses on three notable scientists: planet hunter James Craig Watson, astronomer Maria Mitchell, and inventor Thomas Edison, in their quests to advance science and their pursuit of fame.
 
About the author: David Baron is a journalist, author, and broadcaster. He has worked as an environment correspondent for NPR, a science reporter for Boston's WBUR, and health and science editor for PRI’s The World. David’s written work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Outside, Lonely Planet, and Reader’s Digest. His 2003 book, The Beast in the Garden, received the Colorado Book Award.

Do you like to tinker, invent and reimagine things? Drop in and use our DIY space to get creative. Try out a variety of tools including sewing machines, a serger, dremel, Silhouette Cameo™, button maker, soldering irons, hand tools for fiber crafts, Lego Mindstorms™ and other robotics, and Arduino. All ages are welcome during our weekly open lab. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult as it is a mostly self-directed program.

Everyone knows girls are awesome. Sadly though, as girls grow up, they’re under-represented in science careers, and sometimes subliminally discouraged from showing interest in these careers. We're doing our part to change this course by offering STEM events just for girls. All ages are invited to play and learn in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Events are led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club. Space is limited; please register in advance at jeffolibrary.org or call 303-235-5275.
