Golden local James Murray, certified Feldnekrais practitioner and movement educator,  leads a demonstration on how it works. Space is limited to 20. Please register. This demonstration will take place on the floor, please bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort.

The Golden Library hosts local glass blowing artist Jacqueline McKinny of Rowan Studios at the Homesteaders’ Day at Clear Creek History Park. Experience 19th-century homesteading, explore the historic cabins, try woodstove cooking, learn about blacksmithing, take a lesson at the schoolhouse, AND watch a glass blowing demonstration. This is a free event hosted by the Colorado History Museum at the Clear Creek History Park.

Sadly though, as girls grow up, they’re far under-represented in science careers, and sometimes subliminally discouraged from even showing interest in these careers. We're doing our part to change this course by offering STEM events just for girls where all ages are invited to play and learn in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. The events are led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Let your inner historian loose. Join Colorado Author Kellen Cutsforth as he presents “Boozers, Brothels, and Bare Knuckle Brawlers: The Tale of Buffalo Bill’s Little Known Benefactor.” The presentation will cover Booth’s adventures with the most well-known celebrities of the time, and will provide new information on his eventual business dealings with the most famous American of the day, William Frederick ‘Buffalo Bill’ Cody and his Wild West show.

About the author: Kellen Cutsforth, a veteran speaker (and one of our favorite guests), has been employed as an archivist in the Western History and Genealogy Department of the Denver Public Library for the last eleven years. In this capacity, Cutsforth has researched, organized, and published several finding aids and authored numerous biographical sketches for varied collections. He is a contributor to the Western History blog for the Denver Public Library. His blogs have been featured in “Archives Open” national online periodical and his articles have been featured in Wild West magazine and Westerners Roundup magazine. In addition, Cutsforth is a social media manager for the Western Writers of America and the Denver Posse of Westerners. He lives in Denver, Colorado.

Ever wonder what your stuffed animals do when you're asleep? Your favorite fuzzy friend is invited to spend the night at the library and our secret cameras will discover what they’re up to. Don’t fret; we'll take good care of your friend and tuck them in safe and sound... but the fun begins when the lights go out! Drop off your stuffed animal on Saturday, November 5 during our 10:15 a.m. Family Story Time. Come back on Sunday the 6th at 3 p.m. to see a slideshow of what all the friends were up to overnight. We'll also have a special screening of the movie, “Toy Story” (how appropriate, right?). Late drop off or early pickup will be accommodated during regular business hours. Registration is required and we can only accommodate one stuffy per kiddo.

Do you love beer, history, and hiking? If so, you won't want to miss award-winning author Ed Sealover as he presents his newest book, "Colorado Excursions with History, Hikes and Hops," in which he explores Colorado's natural beauty, unique watering holes, and a history that reflects our state's wild and rugged character. 

A reporter with the Denver Business Journal, Ed Sealover covers state government, tourism and the beverage industry. Over his 20-year journalism career, he's received 77 state, regional and national awards in categories ranging from investigative reporting to political reporting to public service. Sealover has been writing about beer since 2003, including the book, "Mountain Brew: A Guide to Colorado’s Breweries" (2011) and his ongoing "Beer Run" blog.
