misc_none 6:30 PM  -  7:30 PM Golden History Talks: Early Golden and the Quest for the Capital Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend

Nathan Richie, Director of the Golden History Museum will be hosting a lecture on "Early Golden and the Quest for the Capital."

Early Golden City and the Quest for the Capital
When gold was discovered in 1859, the population of the Rockies exploded. Reliable infrastructure, security, and governance was an immediate need. But the designation of a territorial capital sparked an intense power struggle that pitted Denver against the rest of the territory who wished to check the influence of the ambitious city. Golden emerged as the best suited town to claim the mantle of leadership—which it did temporarily in 1862. What happened after was a messy, personal, and salacious battle to secure the permanent seat of power.

About the presenter
Nathan Richie is the director at Golden History Museums. He holds an MA in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University and a BA in American History from Colorado State University. Previously, Nathan served as Director of Exhibits and Programs at the McCormick Freedom Museum in Chicago and as Curator of Collections and Programs at the Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute, Indiana.

~~Michael has created a presentation that covers the basics of estate planning that educates the participates about the process and how it can protect their family. He frequently presents the presentation at community centers throughout the Front Range. We always receive very positive feedback from the audience because the presentation is very entertaining and informative. During the presentation, Michael will explain and cover the following topics: · If you don’t have an estate plan, don’t worry! The State of Colorado and the IRS have already done one for you. You might not like it. · Whether you need to worry about estate taxes. · Why a well-drafted living trust is an important investment for all homeowners. · How to leave an inheritance the right way. · How to protect your assets from lawsuits (a must for anyone who owns rental real estate or a business). · How to prevent an ex-spouse, creditors and immature financial judgment from destroying the inheritance you have built for your children and other loved ones. · How the probate process works and why you should try to avoid it! · Why trust planning is a valuable estate planning tool.
