Grab your ukulele (if you own one…and you should) or borrow one of ours and come "rawk" your way into loving how versatile the ukulele can be in making music and making you happy. Begin to understand standard sheet music and ukulele tablature to play melodically and harmonize using chords and lyrics. Get tips for buying, tuning, and maintaining your ukulele. You will also be introduced to other community resources to grow your inner rock star. We have a limited number of ukuleles available through pre-registration (around 24).

Registration opens one week prior to the class and walk-ins will be permitted if space allows. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. * Limited ukulele's available. If you have your own, please bring it.

About the teacher
Gary Jugert plays a lot of piano, a little guitar, and owns an embarrassing number of ukuleles. He's composed a number of musicals, is finishing his first symphony (he'll never really finish it), wrote a couple novels (they were terrible), founded and conducts the Rocky Mountain Ukulele Orchestra, loves cats, and still hasn't figured out what he wants to be when he grows up.

Movie Time

We’re viewing some of the finest cinema produced in this film series suitable for discerning film-goers. This month, we're showing Arrival, starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. Ambitious and moving, Arrival is a movie that’s about the day the universe changed forever, “a close encounter of the engrossing kind. …  Arrival is a big, risky, showy movie that jumps up on its high-concept high-wire and disdains a net. And yes, there are uneasy moments of silliness when it wobbles a little. But this is an exciting film, with a great performance from Amy Adams, all about the romance of other worlds, and this one." (excerpted from The Guardian review by Peter Bradshaw, posted online 10 November 2016; click this link to read the full review) [PG-13]™ 116 min. Closed captioning is available.

misc_none 1:00 PM  -  3:00 PM Morris Dancers Remind Me about this Event Download Event Info Tell a Friend

Morris Dancing is a living English tradition of dance and music dating back at least 500 hundred years. Its origins are unknown, but its believed the dances were performed in the spring every year (except during war) and may be related to seasonal observances intended to wake up the Earth, ensure good crops and animals, and strong ale. The dances are performed by a set of six dancers who clash sticks or wave handkerchiefs as they perform the figures of the dance. Bells on their legs jingle as they move about interacting with characters and the audience. The Maroon Bells Morris Dancers have been performing at Colorado festivals and fairs for 34 years and have appeared on the Tonight Show starring Jay Leno. This is an outdoor event held in the Evergreen parking lot.
