TAB is a fancy way of describing a group of teens who are interested in becoming more involved in their community and library. These teens work with teen librarians to determine which areas of service they wish to focus. Teens can give input on library Young Adult books and materials, help lead/create programming, volunteer at events, organize community service projects, and influence how their library serves their community. So if you’re in grades 7-12, want to make friends and have a say about what you want from YOUR library, stop by and get involved.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Book Groups are fun right? Well how much more fun would they be if there were movies and snacks involved too? Yep, our Teen Movie Group is a twist on the traditional book group. Every month, you guys are invited to read a new book, and then we will meet to watch the movie based on it. After the film, we'll compare thoughts to see if it was better than the book, if it was an awful, no-good, horrible travesty, or even if it was just okay. "A whole new book every month? I don't have time for that!" Don't worry, we totally get it. Come and watch the movie, eat a snack and add your thoughts to the discussion.

Grab a 1Up as we watch Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and discuss Bryan Lee O'Malley's modern classic manga and video game influenced graphic novel series.

Book clubs are fun right? We’re going to make them a lot more fun by adding movies and pizza! Teen Movie Club is a twist on the traditional book club. Every month you’ll read a new book and then we’ll meet to watch the movie based on it. Wild discussions will emerge on whether the movie is better than the book. We’ll decide if it was an awful, no-good, horrible travesty, or if it was an alright movie that accurately represented the source material. Don’t be turned away by thinking, "A whole new book every month? I don't have time for that!" You can come and watch the movie, eat a slice of pizza, and add your thoughts on just the movie, too.

This month we'll be reading and watching City of Bones, the first of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series.

Join our teen writing group the last Monday of each month and discover the magical words within you. This writing group is all about you.

-Do you like writing exercises?
-Do you enjoy discussing plot/characterization/conflict, and more story elements?
-Do you need quiet time to write on your own?
-Do you want feedback or want to critique each other's work?

No matter the plan, this program has something for you.  Who knows?! By the time Summer Reading rolls around, you just might have something that’s ready to be published as an eBook. We’ll explore the technology involved in publishing eBooks, too. Imagine publishing your own story online…
