Application:  Designer Applications due September 9, 2016.

As far as we're concerned, banned books are always in fashion! To celebrate, we're putting on a fashion show featuring teenage designers who create original wearable pieces inspired by challenged and banned literature. We'll have a runway show, banned book readings, a photo booth and giveaways. Banned Books Week is an American Library Association sponsored event. Do you have a great design in mind? We can help with creative tips and even a sewing class.

Don’t miss our series of special performances to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Bring the whole family and enjoy a truly unique show by two amazing local talents, Adrian Molina, a.k.a. Molina Speaks and Eutimia Cruz Montoya.

According to his web bio, Adrian Molina, a.k.a. Molina Speaks "hails from a small gritty working class town you might think of as 'nowhere.' He proves there is Soul everywhere. He balances humble roots and urban grit, street smarts and cultural knowledge, lyrical skills and philosophy." Speaks describes himself as a Chicano/Latino/Indigenous/Mestizo Futurist. Molina Speaks will perform using poetry to express heritage for the voices, stories, and power of youth and communities of color." His performance, which is family-oriented, will last approximately 20-30 minutes.

Eutimia Cruz Montoya is a lineage-raised contemporary curandera, herbalist, licensed acupuncturist, Real Foods Activist, and Food Systems Educator. She is the descendant of New Mexican curanderos (spiritual healers), and learned the healing ways in the home. She grew up participating in indigenous American song, dance and prayer traditions, giving her an inborn connection to, and understanding of Body and Source. Eutimia has a degree in the Anthropological Sciences from Stanford University, a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine, and has been studying and practicing Classical Chinese Medicine since 2004. As a "modern day medicine woman," she travels often to share her healing gifts with the global community, and continue on her healing path as a life-long student of the 'medicine ways' of the world.

CAPTAIN AMERICA - CIVIL WAR

Friday Night Movie: Captain America Civil War  | Rated PG-13 | 147 min.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
