Do you like to invent, create, and reimagine things? Whether it’s low-tech or high-tech, we’ll do an awesome hands-on activity each month.

LEGO Mindstorms are programmable LEGO robots intended to help middle-schoolers and teens learn how to program. We’ve built two LEGO Mindstorms rovers, but they need your help to function. Work in teams to complete programming challenges. You’ll teach the LEGO Mindstorms rovers to drive in circles or squares, to announce when they start or stop moving, and maybe even to follow a line.

Registration opens two weeks before the event. Limit: 15

Sadly though, as girls grow up, they’re far under-represented in science careers, and sometimes subliminally discouraged from even showing interest in these careers. We're doing our part to change this course by offering STEM events just for girls where all ages are invited to play and learn in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. The events are led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

The Golden Library hosts local glass blowing artist Jacqueline McKinny of Rowan Studios at the Homesteaders’ Day at Clear Creek History Park. Experience 19th-century homesteading, explore the historic cabins, try woodstove cooking, learn about blacksmithing, take a lesson at the schoolhouse, AND watch a glass blowing demonstration. This is a free event hosted by the Colorado History Museum at the Clear Creek History Park.
