Hugo

Book clubs are fun right? Well how much more fun do you think they would be if there were movies and snacks involved too? A lot I bet. Teen Movie Club is a twist on the traditional book club. Every month you guys will read a new book, and then we will meet to watch the movie based on it. After the film, we'll discuss if it was better than the book, if it was an awful, no-good, horrible travesty, or even if it was just OK. Now I know what you're thinking, "A whole new book every month? I don't have time for that!" And that's fine too. Come and watch the movie, eat a snack, and add your thoughts on just the movie to the discussion.

Travel to Paris in the 1930's with Hugo Cabret as we watch Martin Scorsese's adaptation of Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Everyone knows that girls are awesome. Sadly though, as girls grow up, they’re far under-represented in science careers, and sometimes subliminally discouraged from even showing interest in these careers. We're doing our part to change this course by offering STEM events just for girls where all ages are invited to play and learn in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. This event is led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club. Explore the basics of electricity and circuits.

If you know someone who might be interested, take advantage for all the girls in your life. Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Following a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) awakens in the basement fallout shelter of a conspiracy-crazed man (John Goodman) who claims to have saved her from the wreckage of the crash. He also informs her that a chemical attack has devastated the surrounding area, rendering the outside world uninhabitable. Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.), who barely made it into the shelter, corroborates this version of events, but Michelle remains suspicious. As the dynamics within the bunker continually shift, she begins to doubt the truth of both what's happening in the shelter and in the outside world. Dan Trachtenberg made his feature-length debut with this semi-sequel sci-fi thriller, produced by J.J. Abrams and written by Josh Campbell, Matthew Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle. Author: Daniel Gelb    PG | 103 min.

Adventures of Tin Tin

Join us this month to watch and discuss The Adventures of Tintin, based on the classic comics by Hergé. The film was based on the Tintin stories The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham's Treasure, which can be found in volume's three and four of the Tintin collections.
