Teen yoga classes help cultivate self- discipline, promote self-esteem, and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Each class will focus on strengthening, toning and relaxation providing teenagers with an alternative way to redirect their energy. Stretching will also reduce growing pains, and adolescents will feel more comfortable within their own skin. It’s a healthy and challenging way to experiment, to push boundaries and gain a sense of achievement. This class will be great for athletes who need stretches, strengthening and breathing work to enhance athletic performance as well as decrease injuries.  Note:  Parents are invited to take this class with their children. Tuition for all eight classes is $20.

Taught by Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association Paramedics, this course is intended for the general public to learn the basic steps necessary toperform “Hands-Only CPR.” Partnering with JHAAA, the members of the general public will become an asset to our community, providing early CPR in the event of a witnessed sudden cardiac arrest prior to the arrival of emergency responders. This skillis crucial in the link to survival for sudden cardiac arrest victims. Will you help us save a life? Please note that completion of this seminar does not result in receipt of an AHA course completion card. This is a non-credentialed course for the general public. High School students are welcome to attend this class.

Baking Seminar: Let’s Learn to Make Nut Rolls for Easter!
Saturday, April 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuition for ingredients and supplies: $15
 
Mayor Jan Cmar and her sister, Joan Basden will present a seminar on baking homemade nut rolls. Participants will learn to prepare the dough and filling with emphasis on activating yeast, accurate measuring, and rolling and filling the roll to take home and bake. Please bring an apron, cookie sheet, rolling pin and metal icing spatula.
 
This nut roll seminar is limited to 20.

Andy Nixon, an autor with roots in the area will review his books.

Nixon grew up in Clairton, and although he took Horace Greeley’s “Go West Young Man” advice literally by moving to LasVegas, his roots remained firmly planted in Southwestern PA. For years he wrote the humorous and informative blog, DrForgot.com highlighting current events and historical reviews of Clairton and its residents, past and present.

In his 2013 memoir, 50 Shades of Grades, My Journey Through Wacademia.  Nixon found a broad audience from the hills of Western Pennsylvania to his current home in Las Vegas as he chronicled his academic pursuits from childhood through adulthood.

In his recent book, Three Lives of Peter Novak, Nixon brings the history of the Monongahela River steel towns alive with the story of the intriguing adventures of an immigrant from Bosnia.
