October is Archaealogy Month and the Lakeville Historical Commission invites you to their Lakeville Perspectives Program in the Great Ponds Gallery Meeting Room.

Turners Fall is a village in Montague, MA. Plans for a proposed airport extension included the removal of a small hill.  Native American Tribal Representatives felt that the area was a ritual site with a ceremonial stone landscape.  The documentary film directed by Ted Timreck and produced by Timreck and Peter Frechette shows the discoveries at Sacred Hill Ceremonial Site.

This program is made possible by the generosity of Arnie Danielson of Brockton. Following the film, there will be a time for questions. Members of the Ceremonial Landscape Research LLC will be present. Of special interest to area residents will be a segment on Betty's Neck and the Royal Wampanoag Cemetery.  The meeting is free, accessible and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The Power of Preserving YOUR memories...

Stories have power over our lives and it’s important for people to tell their stories – not just in the form of memoirs, but preserve them by writing  diaries and recording oral histories and finding ways to preserve their  Facebook pages and Instagrams and Tweets.

Stories are fundamental to human beings, researchers at Yale and Northwestern have theorized that we are literally nothing except a collection of stories; that every thought we have is a story; that every conversation consists of trading stories back and forth; and that civilization exists due to our ability to tell stories and pass them down.

Thatcher Freund, a journalist and memoir writer, will talk about the importance of stories in our lives both to ourselves and to the culture we live in, and why it matters so much that we preserve them.
