		Upper Midwest history comes alive as French voyageur and fur trader Jean-Christophe paddles and dances his way from Quebec to the Red River meeting Pelagi, a French-Indian (métis) woman, who trades with him. Students discover how the arts, clothing and customs of these two cultures blended to create a unique part of our region’s heritage. Audience members sing a voyageur song, learn some French and Indian words, even try their hand at canoe paddle tricks as they uncover an early vision of cultural tolerance which can still inspire us today. Performers include Jane Peck, director, choreographer Christopher Yaeger, dancer, and Gary Schulte, fiddler.
