Hero of science Daniel Bernoulli was a famous 16th century mathematician and scientist whose principle about fluid dynamics is still true today. In this program, students will use the Bernoulli Principle to lift paper gliders, Ping-Pong balls and Alka-Seltzer rockets. Space is limited.

Intermediate Robotics Workshop

July 21 and 22 (1-2:30pm)

Cost $12/student for both days

Age: 9+

 

This class is for students who have prior experience with the NXT or EV3 LEGO MINDSTORMS robot.  You will work in teams on Intermediate Level programming skills and test these skills out on multiple challenges.  You will use EV3 LEGO MINDSTORMS robots.  Laptops and robots will be provided.

 

The minimum age is set to 9 but if a set of siblings are participating, and 8 year old  accompanied by an older child is ok.  A student older than 14 may participate this time if they have interest.

Children interested must register in the Children's Room. Please speak with the Children's Librarians for more details.

The library has started an excursion group that will visit museums and other Pittsburgh locations once a month.  In July the group visits the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Deparment, one of the oldest in Pittsburgh. Join local artist Alison Babusci for this fun hands-on mask making workshop. This workship is two parts - July 23 and July 30th. You must be able to attend both days! Part One will be building a 3D mask using sculpture techniques and plastercraft. Part Two will consist of painting and embellishing the final masterpiece. All skill levels are welcome. Just bring your imagination and a paintshirt! For those in the 6th grade and above.
