Phipps| Super. Natural. Glass Art by Jason Gamrath

We will be visiting the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens to the see “Super. Natural. Glass Art by Jason Gamrath”and the Butterfly Forest. The Phipps had great success with the glass art exhibits of Dale Chihuly in 2007 and Hans Godo Frabel in 2010 so they commissioned a new show created by Jason Gamrath. Gamrath creates realistic botanical pieces on a enormous scale towering from 6-14 feet tall. The Conservatory will have more than 40 installations that will be displayed among live botanicals. Many were custom made for the Phipps including a glass corpse flower (thankfully without the natural bloom’s famous rotting carcass smell).

The Butterfly Forest is located in the Stove Room. Newly hatched butterflies flutter among plants of the deep tropics. Carnegie Mellon University students enrolled in Experimental Sound have installed a sound system to “generate a sonic environment that constantly evolves”.

Address: One Schenley Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3830

Admission Fee: Adults = $17.95 Seniors (62+) = $16.95 Free to members of Phipps.  Parking: Free in center island, Schenley Drive. Metered street either side of Schenley Drive. Accessibility: Gardens are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the Stove Room (Butterfly Forest) in the West Wing. Wheelchairs are available at admissions free of charge on a first come, first served basis.

    Contact: Reference Department   4128289520   coopersiegelref@einetwork.net

Essential oils can help you safely and effectively maintain health.  In nature, essential oils are the lifeblood of a plant's structure and can heal a plant when it is damaged.  Did you know that an essential oil molecule is smaller than our body's molecules?  This means that essential oils can actually penetrate the body's cells just like it does within a plant!

When someone in Kelly's family needs support, she turns to oils first.  She has even replaced many of the harmful chemicals in her home like soaps, cleaners and shampoos with safer, oil based products.

Her team keeps it simple and can teach you everything you need to know to get started adding oils into your daily routine. Join Kelly Petit to learn some basics about essential oils to see if they might be a good fit for you and your family's health and wellness.Image result for essential oil
