I can't sew, so any no-sew project, and I'm there! Especially a super cool no-sew scarf that's light enough for a summer evening and stamped with DIY stamps! Bring your own jersey fabric, about 13.5" X 65" (or a size of your choosing) and we'll provide the rest. The jersey edges roll nicely so the raw edge is practically unnoticeable. We'll put some on great craftin' music and nosh on some light refreshments too while we get creative. Get ready to have fun!

Join with others who want to explore our Pittsburgh. Visit museums both large and small, delve into fun activities and discover hidden gems in our neighborhood. We meet monthly, day and time will vary according to the activity. Adult only (18+).

This month, we're headed to The Photo Antiquities Museum for a docent led tour of Lincoln in Pittsburgh. The Photo Antiquities Museum of Photograph History focuses on the history of photography from 1821 to present. We'll get a docent led tour in their new ground level gallery of a special President Lincoln exhibit Lincoln in Pittsburgh. About 100 photographs from both pre- and post-Civil War will accompany artifacts from the 16th president. One of the unpublished photographs we will see served as the basis for the portrait of Lincoln on the US penny.

On display is also a rarely viewed “life mask” where wet plaster was applied directly to the President Lincoln’s face to create an impression to be used in sculptures. This mask, by artist Clark Mills, was made 8 weeks before his assassination and details the physical toll the Civil War years had on his visage compared to an earlier life mask made by Leonard Volk 5 years earlier. It is the Volk life mask that artists have used to portray Lincoln.

Address: 531 East Ohio St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Parking: East Ohio Street or public lot behind Citizen’s Bank (Middle St).  Accessibility: ADA accessible. Admission Fee: Adults= $10.00 Senior Citizens (65+) + $8.00 Free to members. Please register online.

    Contact: Reference Department   4128289520   coopersiegelref@einetwork.net

Essential oils can help you safely and effectively maintain health.  In nature, essential oils are the lifeblood of a plant's structure and can heal a plant when it is damaged.  Did you know that an essential oil molecule is smaller than our body's molecules?  This means that essential oils can actually penetrate the body's cells just like it does within a plant!

When someone in Kelly's family needs support, she turns to oils first.  She has even replaced many of the harmful chemicals in her home like soaps, cleaners and shampoos with safer, oil based products.

Her team keeps it simple and can teach you everything you need to know to get started adding oils into your daily routine. Join Kelly Petit to learn some basics about essential oils to see if they might be a good fit for you and your family's health and wellness.
