    Contact: Deb Spratt   978-433-0330   dspratt@cwmars.org

Come meet the talented artist Jacqui Hawk on Saturday, October 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Light refreshments will be served, sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Jacqui Hawk is a nationally collected, award winning artist living in Dunstable MA. Her work
has been featured in solo, invitational juried state and national exhibitions and represented in
private and corporate collections in the US, Europe and Asia.  Her abstract work is represented
at 100 Market Street Gallery, Portsmouth NH.

She is a native of Edinburgh, Scotland and began her career in the arts over 25 years ago. She
is an experiential artist, impacted by a deep visceral connection to her soul and the innate
struggle to depict her intimate feelings and views on to the canvas in a spontaneous, raw and abstract self-expression.
Each of her paintings are emotional in nature and a metaphor for her life’s journey, from Scottish origins, travels around
the world, personal struggles and challenges, events in society.  They embody the magic and whimsical illusions of a
child and the strength and wisdom of a woman with an old soul.

She works mainly in acrylic and mixed media, including  wax, pearlescent powders, gesso of different consistencies,
stained glass pieces, decoupage, gold/silver leaf, and unusual objects she finds washed up on the beach. Her recent
compositions are organic and primitive in nature and reveal a range of emotions from sadness, hope, peace, renewal,
enlightenment and self-awareness.

The show will run October 7 - 28, 2017

Expressions Of Nature – Interpretations by Steve St.Lawrence and Noble Farrow

Photographer Steve St.Lawrence and artist Noble Farrow are friends with an appreciation for the great outdoors. While their art forms may be different, their passion for art, nature and sharing it with the world is the same. They look forward to the opportunity to share their vision in the Art Gallery at Lawrence Library. This exhibition is dedicated to the beauty and wonder of nature expressed in a multimedia presentation. Come meet the artists on Saturday, November 4th from 11 am - 1 pm.

Steve is based in Nashua but considers the White Mountains and Acadia National Park to be second homes, visiting as often as possible. This is Steve’s 3rd exhibition at the Lawrence Library with the Art Gallery being his favorite room with the recent renovation of the skylight. His work also hangs in several private collections. Steve has donated pieces for a variety of charity causes in a number of areas in the country as a commitment to giving back to the community. Steve has work on display at the Frame Depot in Milford, NH. Steve is currently working on 2 book projects, one a book of portraits and the second book a combination of writing and images based upon his weekly series called the Friday Photo. The Friday Photo can be found on his Steve St.Lawrence Photography Page on Facebook. His website is www.stevestl.com.

Noble and her family are residents of Brookline, NH. Noble was born in Minnesota, raised in Massachusetts and went to college in New Hampshire. Noble has formal education in art and education. Her passion for creating has not been limited to her own pieces but has extended to inspiring and encouraging other artists through teaching. Her canvas can take many forms, including traditional canvas, drawings and her unique style of woodburning. She finds unique pieces of wood and incorporates the texture and color of the pieces into her vision of the final product.  You can find Noble’s work at Wild Salamander in Hollis, The Frame Depot in Milford and Picket Fence Gift Shop in Mount Vernon. You can find Noble on Facebook by looking for Arts By Noble.

This art show will run November 4th - 25th.  Steve and Noble are planning several Saturday events during the exhibition. Details to follow as the event gets closer!

Join us for the second series of STEM related book discussions. This month we will be talking about Friday Night Lights: a Town, a Team, and a Dream by H.G. Bissinger, and the theme of tradition. As humans, we often cling to the familiar, and sometimes great dynasties result from children following in their parents’ footsteps. The human body can also benefit from the repetition of familiar motions and routines, creating the physical tradition of muscle memory.

We will have a special guest (TBA), and lots of tasty snacks. We have free copies of the book (while supplies last) for registrants.

“Meditation” covers a variety of practices that designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy, and develop compassion. Benefits of meditation include calming and clarity of the mind, and decreased anxiety, stress, anger, fear, jealousy, and destructive thoughts. Over time, meditation can help us to better relate with others and become more empathetic in all situations.

Come and have a cup of tea to learn more, then try it for a few weeks and decide for yourself.

Led by Brian Findlay, a Pepperell resident who wants to share what meditation has provided to him.

This month's concert: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert

On October 29th and 30th, 2009, rock 'n' roll royalty held court at Madison Square Garden for what have been called 'the best concerts ever,' and 'where rock 'n' roll history was made.' The concerts featured a who's who of rock 'n' roll from the '50s to the '90s and included artists performing together in unprecedented combinations that will most likely never be witnessed again.

'The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Anniversary Concerts' included sets by Crosby, Stills & Nash; Stevie Wonder; Paul Simon; Simon & Garfunkel; Metallica; U2; Jeff Beck and Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band. Joining this iconic line up on stage were special guests including: Jerry Lee Lewis, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Smokey Robinson, B.B. King, John Fogerty, Mick Jagger, Fergie, The King of Long island, Billy Joel and others.
