Pepperell Green-Up begins Saturday, April 15th  and continues through Saturday, April 29, 2017

The Green-Up is a town-wide volunteer clean-up of litter and trash on roadsides and public lands in Pepperell. Public lands to pick up include roadsides, sidewalks, parking lots, schools, the rail trail, conservation lands, streams, hiking trails and other areas. Anyone can participate -- individuals, families, scout groups, organizations, businesses, etc., and everyone's efforts make a difference!

A map of Pepperell and a sign-up list will be posted in Lawrence Library. Stop by to sign up and pick up some garbage bags.

Filled bags can be left curbside. The Pepperell Highway Department will pick up the bags along the roadside. Thank you for participating and for taking pride in Pepperell!

This is a 'Friends' sponsored program that is held on the 2nd Friday night (Sept - May) in a smoke-free intimate environment of the library's art gallery. Fantastic acoustics in the art gallery/musical room draws musicians and listeners from throughout New England.

Islam 101 with Mona Ives.

Mona Ives is an American-born Muslim woman of Egyptian descent. After starting a major in International Relations at Boston University, Mrs. Ives traveled to Pakistan where she studied Islamic Theology with a specialization in Comparative Religion, at the International Islamic University. Mona now focuses her efforts on educating the public about Islam, de-mystifying it, and clarifying misconceptions. She organizes and participates in a number of interfaith and outreach activities in the Worcester Community and is an instructor at WISE (Worcester Institute for Senior Education). She also conducts free seminars on Islam at schools, libraries, churches, and other religious institutions. A very important part of her life is charity work, with a special focus on assisting refugees re-settling in America.

A new kind of book group! Read the book, then discuss various topics that explore science, learning, and the human experience. Watch short author interviews, enjoy light refreshments, and learn from special guests. This month we will be discussing When the Killing's Done by T.C. Boyle with special guest William Pineda from Nissitissit Middle School, and his rats! We will have light refreshments, too.

You do not need to read the entire book to participate and enjoy the program.

Pushing the Limits is a reading, viewing, and discussion program for adults in communities served by rural libraries, made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

New Hampshire based Baza celebrates the tradition of the harmonica and guitar blues duo.  Their shows are packed with a wide repertoire of songs, stories and folklore of Delta and Piedmont style blues and its players from the 1920s - 1940s.

They have performed at a variety of venues throughout the Northeast from radio stations, basements, backyard BBQs, house parties, bars, colleges, porches and concert stages.  

Baza is Doug Philbrook, guitar, vocals and foot percussion with Geof “Goody” Goodell on harmonica and vocals.

Doug proudly plays National Reso-phonic guitars and employs a variety of blues tunings, picking and bottleneck styles. His vocal style has been described by Metronome Magazine as "emotive and powerful."

This imaginative production brings to life the story of Cinderella in a way that will surprise and delight audiences. The wacky duo, Dustmop and Binny, “accidentally” stumble upon an audience and decide to put on a play with what they have before them. Using household items, recycled objects and physical comedy, our performers create hilarious characters, inventive settings and lively scenes. Packed with character education lessons, Upcycled Cinderella will activate the imagination and encourage young audiences to use teamwork, friendship and creativity in their every day lives.

(Best for Grades Pre-K - 5th)
