We will be reading and discussing the following books:
Wonder by RJ Palacio
Monday, June 24th at 4 p.m.
August Pullman was born with a facial deformity that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face.
Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord
Monday, July 8th at 4 p.m.
Touch blue and your wish will come true. 'Why take chances?' says eleven-year-old Tess Brooks. 'Especially when it's so easy to let the universe know what you want by touching blue or turning around three times or crossing your fingers.' But Tess is coming to know that it's not always that simple.
Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
Monday, July 15th at 4 p.m.
Ten-year-old India Opal Buloni describes her first summer in the town of Naomi, Florida, and all the good things that happen to her because of her big ugly dog Winn-Dixie.
The Puzzling World of Winston Breen by Eric Berlin
Monday, July 22nd at 4 p.m.
Winston Breen says the only thing better than discovering a puzzle is stumping someone else with it. But when his sister uncovers mysterious strips of wood with words and letters on them, even Winston himself is stumped. Soon the whole family (and some friends) are caught up in the mystery and off on a scavenger hunt that just may lead to a ring worth thousands of dollars!
The shadows by Jacqueline West
Monday, July 29th at 4 p.m.
When eleven-year-old Olive and her distracted parents move into an old Victorian mansion, Olive finds herself ensnared in a dark plan involving some mysterious paintings, a trapped and angry nine-year-old boy, and three talking cats.
