Word 2007 Beginning Level 3 (class 3 of 6)

This course is intended for individuals who want to gain basic knowledge of working on Word 2007. IT WOULD BE ADVISABLE FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF MICROSOFT WORD TO ALSO TAKE THIS COURSE, AS THIS VERSION OF WORD DIFFERS CONSIDERABLY FROM ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS. Upon successful completion of these Beginning level courses, students will be able to: explore the various components of the Microsoft Office Word 2007 environment - create a document - edit documents by locating and modifying text - format text - format paragraphs - add tables to a document - add graphic elements to a document - proof documents to make them more accurate - control a document's page setup and its overall appearance.

The Little Red Schoolhouse: An American Icon
|

|
Jonathan Zimmerman, NYU Professor of Education and History is a historian focused on educational themes. He will ask the question how and why the little red schoolhouse became an American icon and how, across the political spectrum, everyone envisioned the schoolhouse that they needed to see. With images and discussion he will present the reality of these schoolhouses of the past.

This film was called "a stunning documentary" (Philadelphia Inguirer) and concerns the battle of a popular jock who is attacked for coming out in his small western PA high school. His mother enlists the aid of a former native son, Joe Wilson, whose own same sex wedding announcement ignited a firestorm of controversy in the local newspaper. The issues of inclusion, fairness and equality will be discussed in a Q&A after the film.
