Susan Hannon, R.N., M.S.N. is back again from NYU Winthrop Hospital's Community Outreach Program offering chair exercises

for seniors.  These are Pilates type exercises which isolate each muscle group with gentle stretches in between. The goal is to

strengthen muscles for greater flexibility, tone and balance.  Four Tuesdays: Oct. 3, 10, 17, & 24.  Registration starts Sept. 5 for

Malverne residents; Sept. 12 for all others.  Program is free.

This training program was developed for families and friends who care for loved ones with dementia.  Topics include understanding memory loss, living with dementia, and using the Cares® approach.  Caregivers will come away feeling more comfortable and confident about caring for their loved ones.  Program Specialist Michelle Ashbahian will be giving this program brought to you by the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation located in New Hyde Park, NY.  Please register starting Sept. 4th.

The class includes warm-ups, formal yoga postures, breathing techniques, brief meditation and deep relaxation.  Participants are invited to practice at the level most comfortable for them.  Yoga mat and light blanket are required.  Four Thursdays: October 19, 26, November 2, 9.  $16 fee at registration: Sept. 21 for Malverne resident Oct. 5, all others.

Join Cheryl Frey Richards again for another fun painting experience.  She will show you what makes

a painting look so good and teaches tricks to help you create your own masterpiece!  She will be

showing the landscapes of Pissarro so you can create the mood and style that characterize

many of his works.  Malverne residents register starting October 11; all others register Oct. 25.
