We do raffles for reading & listening each week, so there are lots of chances to win. Best of all, you will enjoy some terrific books this summer!This program runs until August 31.

Hayley Wagner will lead this 4-H sponsored and funded course for young people ages 11 and up.  There will be three meetings, and all are required to complete the training.  The classes will meet on Tuesdays, August 9, August 16 & August 23rd, from 9:45 to 11:45.  Students will learn an array of important skills that will help them become confident caregivers.  Each student that completes the course will receive a helpful manual.

The Mansfield Public Library warmly welcomes Ken Lelen to perform in a vintage guitar concert called "He Did it His Way." This concert celebrates the lives, romances, careers and songs of Frank Sinatra, Les Brown, Duke Ellington, Jimmy Dorsey, Vaughn Monroe, Bing Crosby, Satchmo, Artie Shaw, Nat King Cole, Mills Brothers and other Big Band stars.

Vintage guitarist Ken Lelen sings classic American ragtime, jazz, and swing tunes and pairs each song with a vintage acoustic guitar for an authentic back-in-the-day sound. He has played steel-stringed acoustic guitar for more than five decades and brings to each concert several of his 20th century acoustic guitars. For 16 years he has enthralled audiences at various venues, playing 100 concerts a year on the East Coast.

This program is free and open to all ages. No registration required.

In this workshop, you will learn • Intro to camera, controls and functions-manual & auto focus • Memory cards, ISO ratings and low-light camera sensitivity • Filters & Accessories • Basic composition • Use of electronic flash • Normal, wide angle and telephoto lenses • Basic portraiture and • Lighting Techniques.

This workshop is hosted by Bob Michaelson of Photography by Michelson, Inc. based in Braintree, MA. He is a published underwater photographer/videographer, who has been diving for 34 years. He is a PADI Dive Master, a Speciality Instructor in underwater photography, videography, naturalist, and PADI project AWARE Fish I.D.

Join our newest book club at the library! This book club will focus on nonfiction works. For our first book, we will be discussing is Dead Wake: the Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson. "The #1 New York Times best-selling author of In the Garden of Beasts presents a 100th-anniversary chronicle of the sinking of the Lusitania that discusses the factors that led to the tragedy and the contributions of such figures as President Wilson, bookseller Charles Lauriat and architect Theodate Pope Riddle."

Get in the ghostly spirit and join us for Gothic Ghost Tales by Candlelight! Some of the most imaginative and original writers of ghost stories, in the 20th century, have been women. They helped create the modern ghost: a mixture of the old fashioned Victorian gothic and science fiction. Rita Parisi from Waterfall Productions will present three ghost stories that probe the possibilities of other dimensions in time and human consciousness.

This program is free and recommended for ages 10 and up.
