Join us in celebration of National Life Writing Month by getting your story on paper! Hosted by personal historian Marjorie Turner Hollman, this workshop will provide an opportunity to practice asking yourself questions using “story starter” memory prompts. You will create stories that answer those questions, and share them orally before getting them down in writing. We’ll talk about the importance of setting the scene, adding details, tapping into the senses, and finding humor, if appropriate. Participants will leave with the confidence that they themselves have stories to share, and a resource list of the multiple ways they can choose to share those stories.

About Marjorie: A native Floridian, Marjorie comes from a long line of southern storytellers. Her history degree is from Bridgewater (MA) State College. She was beckoned north by college—and snow! Her years as a professional storyteller give her writing a unique perspective. In the last fifteen years her byline has appeared in “The Christian Science Monitor,” “Perspectives,” the quarterly journal of the Association of Personal Historians, “Alive Now,” a monthly magazine of the National Methodist Church, “Storytelling Magazine,” the national publication of the National Storytelling Network, as well as other more local publications.

And so, in the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a sixteen-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers. "
