The 2017 Summer Library Adventure officially begins on June 17!  Signing up is super easy! Sign up, log your books, and be entered into two raffle drawings at the end of the summer. Prizes can be picked up at the Reference Desk. Start reading today! This program runs until August 31. There will be two grand prizes picked at the end of the summer. These prizes have been graciously sponsored by the North Easton Savings Bank and the Friends of the Library.

2017 Summer Library Adventure “Build a Better World”

Registration, Reading and Raffles begin – Saturday, June 17th

Children ages 0-13 can register any time, beginning on June 17th.  Our Summer Library Adventure runs through August 31.  Enter our weekly raffles when you read or listen to books, audiobooks or ebooks.  Enjoy Monday night performances beginning in July, lots of special events and stop in for summer story times and craft programs.  An online summer program is also available, ask us about it!

The “Build a Better World” 2017 Summer Library Adventure in a nutshell:

The Massachusetts Summer Library Program is sponsored by your local library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.  Support of readers also provided by the USS Constitution Museum, Yankee Candle, Friendly’s Restaurants, and Treetop Adventures of Canton.  Additional sponsors include the Mansfield Cultural Council, The Natural Resources Trust of Mansfield, the PawSox and the Friends of the Mansfield Library.  Special thanks to the Knights of Pythias for their generous donation of bicycles and helmets for readers in first through third grade – to be awarded via raffle.

Lois is a high energy joyful teacher, who has won First Place in theater arts shows and competitions in US and Europe in swing, ballroom, latin, country and polka. Her 20 years of experience includes performing to choreography by Louis Van Amstel at the Warner Brother's Theater and studying with Tony Dovolani from Dancing with the Stars. She also teaches lessons at Goochie's Cafe in Plainville, MA.

Join us as we welcome Pinto Bella Hoops for an interactive hula hooping program! Pinto Bella will be providing a bit of history and a lot of fun. She will talk about hula hooping, share some tips and tricks, give a brief performance, and then everyone will be given a chance to hula hoop themselves!

Pinto is a Hoopnotica certified instructor. She grew up in West Central Wisconsin and currently lives in Massachusetts where she has had the opportunity to learn from professional hula hoopers from around the globe through which she acquired certifications and learned even more techniques for teaching. She has worked with others to develop hula hooping programs, worked at summer camps, directed choirs, teaches music, art and dance, organizes events, and choreographs for ensembles.She is now traveling the country to share her experiences with different communities.

Mansfield Library warmly welcomes Hungrytown to perform at the library for a FREE concert on Saturday July 15 at 2pm.

After more than a decade of world-wide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson--otherwise known as the folk duo Hungrytown--have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting. Lyricist Rebecca Hall is credited with compositions “that sound as timeless as any traditional songs” while producer/multi-instrumentalist/husband Ken Anderson is lauded for his “remarkable affinity for instrumental embellishment” and for crafting Hungrytown’s “gorgeous vocal harmonies."

This program is open to all ages.

Join us as we warmly welcome Kenneth Warchol, a veteran beekeeper who will share his knowledge from a narrated visual presentation. You will travel right inside a beehive to better understand the mysterious social insect and the role that it plays in humanity survival on Earth. Ken also brings samples of a variety of honey for everyone to taste.

Ken Warchol became involved with the Massachusetts Federation of Beekeepers in the 1970s. Because of his unique taleent with bees he is considered by many as the bee whisperer. He is a 6th generation caretakes of bees; his family's practice originated in Poland in the 1840s. In 1999, BKen was chair of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Worcester County Bee Association, the oldest county beekeeping association in the country.

Join us for a Zydeco Dance lesson presented by Lois Meinhardt! No experience necessary! Enjoy yourself and lighten up your Monday mood with an evening of dancing! Zydeco is a form of French-Creole dancing that orginated in Louisiana. Come learn this lively folk dance with us!

Lois is a high energy joyful teacher, who has won First Place in theater arts shows and competitions in US and Europe in swing, ballroom, latin, country and polka. Her 20 years of experience includes performing to choreography by Louis Van Amstel at the Warner Brother's Theater and studying with Tony Dovolani from Dancing with the Stars. She also teaches lessons at Goochie's Cafe in Plainville, MA.
