    Contact: Amy Rosa   508-261-7380   arosa@sailsinc.org

Join us for our monthly Teen Writing Workshop! This month we will have special guest author Lori Goldstein in to host! Lori Goldstein is named one of the Best Fantasies YA authors of 2015. She has written the books Becoming Jinn and Circle of Jinn. You can check out her bio and description of her books at www.lorigoldsteinbooks.com.

This writing workshop will focus on World Building: Beyond the Setting. Build it so readers will believe it! World building is crucial to all stories, whether it’s an epic fantasy with dragons and spells, a paranormal tale with zombies and unicorns, or a contemporary with dances and bonfires. In this session, I introduce some of the strategies authors use when creating the worlds for our novels and give examples from popular books. Then, as a group, we will come up with a story premise and create the world for that story, examining everything from the time and place to traditions to culture to power structure. Attendees will leave with a new understanding that "setting" and "world building" are two very different, and important, things to every story.

This workshop is free and open to grades 6 to 12. Please register below.
