Kickstarter is an online service that allows you to post a creative project and receive funding via donations from other users. The site is a part of a new wave of similar donation services called “crowdfunding”. Gary Cohen, an online entrepreneur and SEO expert, ran one of his own personal projects through Kickstarter and made over 200% of his goal. He has also consulted on several other successful Kickstarters, which together have raised close to $100,000.

We are going to utilize our IndieFlix online service to share this classic from 1931. Violet Stoner dies under mysterious cicumstances in her bedroom at the gloomy mansion of her brutish stepfather.  Because Violet had become engaged to be married, she stood to inherit a substantial annual allowance from her parents' estate but never survived to collect it. Her last words were "The Speckled Band!" Now, her sister Helen has become engaged, and her stepfather views the event as money out of his pocket since she also stands to get a yearly stipend. When he orders her to start sleeping in her sister's bedroom, and she finds the bed bolted to the floor, she fears that a fate similar to Violet's will befall her. She turns to the residents of 221B Baker Street for help.

There will be a BEGINNER email basics class; how to set-up an email account, and instructions on how to send and receive messages.  All training is hands-on using the library’s computers.  Each session is limited to  6 people; sessions will cover the same materials.

How to Die in Oregon is a thought provoking documentary chronicling the passing of the Death with Dignity Act in Oregon in 1997. It follows the process for patients that have taken the medication, while also presenting the viewpoints held by opponents of the movement. Ethan Andersen, a field agent for Compassion & Choices, a non-profit organization committed to helping everyone have the best possible death, will be here to introduce the movement, show the film, and answer any questions after the film. No registration is required.

The silhouette became very popular in the 18th century and the art still has many admirers.  Local artist, Linda Roehmer, will introduce you to its history and the many types of silhouettes.  Mrs. Roehmer will offer a live demonstration of the creation process, discussing her techniques as she works. Afterwards participants will be able to practice creating their own silhouettes.
