Adult Program

Over 750,000 men died in the American Civil War, but the tragedy was magnified by disrespectful burial practices in which large numbers of bodies were dumped, unidentified, into trenches. Enemy soldiers were frequently not buried at all and left to rot where they fell.

This program covers this issue and shows how after the war, federal and state governments sought to rectify the matter.

The presentation contains graphic images and is not suitable for young children.

Registration is suggested, though walk-ins are welcome. Registration begins on June 22. Call 609-799-0462.

Born into country-house privilege in the early years of the 20th century, they became prominent as “bright young things” in the high society of interwar London. Then, as the shadows crept over 1930s Europe, the stark?and very public?differences in their outlooks came to symbolize the political polarities of a dangerous decade. The intertwined stories of their stylish and scandalous lives are recounted in masterly fashion in this biography by Laura Thompson. Registration is suggested.

Adult Program

Do you want to make better use of your digital device? Maybe you’d like to open a Facebook account or download an e-book. How about capturing a screen shot or attaching a photo to a text message? Make a 20-minute appointment with reference librarian Mary Astarita to get one-on-one help with your gadget.

Please note that library staff does not repair devices.

Appointment is required. On or after June 22, call 609-275-8901 or stop by the reference desk to make a 20-minute appointment. Let us know which device you’ll bring in and the function(s) you want to learn.
