Join us for a new program for toddlers and preschoolers to explore all things science!

Each session we will examine a different aspect of science through books and hands-on experiments for your little scientist to investigate, play and have fun!

This week’s theme is: Eco Science!

Please dress in old clothes or wear a smock. Some experiments may get messy!

Registration is required starting at 7am on the day of the program.  Please register each child separately.

On Saturday, June 10th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System will be hosting the world’s only science fiction convention devoted to the work of legendary author R. A. Lafferty. The library will have panel discussions introducing readers to Lafferty’s work, a presentation by the artist Anthony Rhodes discussing his Lafferty-inspired art, and discussions of Lafferty’s influential novel, Fourth Mansion.

The convention will be held at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System, located at 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville. Refreshments will be served. Online registeration through EventKeeper suggested. Registration will begin at 9:30 am on April 1, 2017.

Instructed by high school students in Camp Fire NJ’s Teens on Fire Program, with adult supervision.

The children attending will learn the health risk and dangers of smoking and second hand smoke through a story called the “Uninvited Guest: Becky and Friends Make their World Smoke-Free.” Each student will be given a copy of the book to keep.

After the story the students will be given a handout where they will have the opportunity to make a poster stating “I am Making My World Smoke Free.” Students will be asked to think about what that statement means to them and add pictures, drawings or other words that they think are important.

Born in Bologna, Italy, in 1874, Guglielmo Marconi was a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and inventor credited with the groundbreaking work necessary for all future radio technology. Through his experiments in wireless telegraphy, Marconi developed the first effective system of radio communication. Marconi was a businessman as well as an inventor. He utilized his knowledge of business to make wireless technology a commercial success in New Jersey. Local historian Michael Hyduk will talk about Marconi and his impact. Registration suggested.

Born in Bologna, Italy, in 1874, Guglielmo Marconi was a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and inventor credited with the groundbreaking work necessary for all future radio technology. Through his experiments in wireless telegraphy, Marconi developed the first effective system of radio communication. Marconi was a businessman as well as an inventor. He utilized his knowledge of business to make wireless technology a commercial success in New Jersey. Local historian Michael Hyduk will talk about Marconi and his impact. Registration suggested.

In honor of this year's Summer Reading theme, "Build a Better World"...

Build a better… decorative box!  Use nail polish to create a unique marbleized design on a wooden pencil holder or keepsake box. 

Online registration is required. Registration opens the morning of the program at 7a.m.  Preference at the door will be given to patrons who have registered with a valid MCLS library card. Please register each child separately.  Space is limited.  Your spot may be given to another if you are late.  Younger/older siblings will not be permitted except as observers with parent supervision.  Please phone us at 989-6921 if you will not be able to attend.

Some animals that might be included in this program are: The groundhot, degu, alligator, corn snake, ferret, chinchilla, coatimundi and dove.

Join Eyes of the Wild and their amazing rescued animals for a discussion about a future that can and should include the beautiful creatures and habitats we share this world with.

The program will teach about issues mankind must overcome to provide that future, ways in which animals help build a better world and success stories of how we are working toward a future that can include every living thing.

Online registration with a valid MCLS library card is required, beginning at 7:00am on the day of the show.  Those who have not registered may be admitted as space permits.

Designed for boys between the ages of 9 and 12 years, this program will address the physical, intellectual  and emotional changes your child will experience as he enters his teenage years.

Bring your child and join us for an informative and relaxed look at growing up, led by Lisa Mathiasen, RN, a Health Educator with Princeton Healthcare System.

Online registration with a valid MCLS Library card is required, beginning at 7:00am on the day of the program. Those who have not registered may be admitted as space permits.   Register only the child, but an adult caregiver should accompany him.
