    Contact: Lawrence Programs   609-989-6920   lawprogs@mcl.org
Prominent physicist and author Tony Rothman, PhD. will be speaking about his latest novels, "Firebird" and "The Course of Fortune."

In "Firebird" Dr. Rothman uses his technical expertise to create a rare and timely novel based on genuine science. Not science fiction, the science of "Firebird" is as real as the collision between science and politics it portrays.

This year also commemorates the 450th anniversary of the Great Siege of Malta, 1565, in which up to 40,000 Ottoman Turks attacked the island of Malta, defended by some 8,000 mercenaries, militia and 600 Knights of Malta. In time for the anniversary, Rothman's three-volume historical novel about the events leading to this most monumental and vicious of all sieges has just been published.

Copies of "Firebird" and "The Course of Fortune" will be available for purchase by the Friends of the Lawrence Library for the author to sign after the presentation. Registration is suggested. To view a video of the book, click here.

Tuesday, July 28, 7:00 - 8:30 pm The mind is an extraordinarily powerful tool that plays an important role in helping us achieve success, yet most people do not tap into that readily available power. Did you know that 75–90% of what you do today, you did yesterday, and you will do again tomorrow? Why is our behavior so mechanical and mindless? Doing the same thing over and over again is not challenging our thought process. This workshop will teach you not only how and why your mind is holding you back, but also what you can do to immediately take control and harness the power of your mind.
