		Tour Brooklyn with a born ‘n’ bread Brooklynite. We will see the new Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn, drive through Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, Park Slope, Williamsburg (where we will see some vibrant street art and graffiti), Greenpoint and Bushwick. There will be a few stops, but the guided tour will be aboard our comfortable bus. Lunch on your own in the thriving shopping district of Brooklyn Heights-Montague Street. Meet up after lunch at 75 Hick Street at Pilgrim Church where Henry Ward Beecher was the first pastor. You can even sit in the same seat that Abraham Lincoln sat on when he spoke there so eloquently against slavery. Registration begins April 10 for Merrick residents and 1 guest. 		Registration begins today and continues through the summer for the Summer Reading Program. The theme this summer is DIG INTO READING. The Wiggly Worms are for chldren age 3-6 years. The Dynamic Dinos are for children entering grades 2-6. At registration receive a bookmark, pin and creativity sheet. Read at your own pace and tell us about the book. Prizes are given for books recorded on the reading record. Special programs are planned throughout the summer. Babies are eligible for the Early Litereacy reading program. Stop by and register!

		Lecturer - Evelyn Silver Through the ages, food has been used by artists in many ways. In this hour-long PowerPoint presentation, we are introduced to over 25 major artists. We see how Chagall depicted food in his work; how Manet shocked the world and represented class distinctions. We witness celebrations as shown by Breughel, and a brilliant still life by Frieda Kahlo. During this presentation we will have much food for thought while we learn about Expressionism and Pop Art. We will see the American art and humor in the works of Red Grooms and Mel Ramos. 		All blankets are wrapped therefore time will vary. We need caring adults to join us for an evening of wrapping blankets to donate to a child undergoing chemotherapy. We invite young people, students and Girl Scouts over the age of 7, who require community service credit. Letters of community service will be provided upon completion of the evenings’ wrap. Adult supervision is now required for youngsters who come to our wrap night events for safety reasons. Their website is www.wecareblankets.org and they are a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to hospitals all over the east coast.

		All blankets are wrapped therefore time will vary. We need caring adults to join us for an evening of wrapping blankets to donate to a child undergoing chemotherapy. We invite young people, students and Girl Scouts over the age of 7, who require community service credit. Letters of community service will be provided upon completion of the evenings’ wrap. Adult supervision is now required for youngsters who come to our wrap night events for safety reasons. Their website is www.wecareblankets.org and they are a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to hospitals all over the east coast.

		Chef Richard Kanowsky is back to take you through the process of making fresh homemade ravioli. First, you will learn how to make fresh pasta dough. Then you will roll out the dough, fill it, and cut the ravioli. Learn different flavorful fillings to make on your own. All participants take home a tray of ravioli they created ready to be cooked and enjoyed at home. Please bring a rolling pin and a large cookie sheet to class. There is a $5.00 fee for this class.
