Trashy Fashion Show at the Glenview Park Center

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) will present its third Trashy Fashion Show on Friday, November 13, at 7 pm, at the Park Center, 2400
Chestnut Avenue, Glenview. This fun and inspirational program showcases clothing and accessories made from materials otherwise destined for the trash can.
Programming Assistant Karina Guico, will model MGPL's entry, a 1920s-style flapper dress made from thousands of paper beads. Thirty six people have helped make the beads from recycled flyers and program evaluation surveys. The theme and title of the dress is "Black and white and READ all over." A true sensory experience from beginning to end! Yoga instructor Allison Wilmes will lead you through a 50-minute chair yoga practice, and Gretchen Iler, a certified tea specialist, will serve three tea samples and two chocolates that complement and enhance the flavor notes in the teas. Morton Grove's own Mary Anne Riehl will entertain you with old favorites and popular tunes accompanied by her talented ensemble: Rusty Jones on drums, Ben lewis on piano and Jim Cox on bass. Mary Anne's professional music career began in Louisville, KY, where she sang with various dance orchestras and then became staff vocalist at WHAS, singing for two years on radio and TV shows. She appeared on the Lawrence Welk show and sang with Welk's orchestra at the Aragon Ballroom in Los Angeles. For over five years, she was the featured female vocalist on Don McNeill's "Breakfast Club."
